Local wheel repair shops? - Beej - 01-24-2007 In my latest experient with Murphy and how his law corresponds to buying a modified car, I've learned that a bunch of the bling wheels that most of you hate are bent. I used a kickass place in Jersey once, but don't know of any down here. I'd prefer a place that can dismount/mount/balance tires in addition to fixing the wheel (the place I used couldn't do tires). No need to refinish, just to fix a couple bends on the inner part. I know I've seem some Scion or something driving around advertising one, but I can't remember the name of it. So, anyone used one around here? - Mike - 01-24-2007 melt em down, that's all they're good for. maybe we can make a beheading frisbee with them? - Andy - 01-24-2007 ye olde wheel shop but they're expensive. - white_2kgt - 01-24-2007 Andy Wrote:ye olde wheel shop but they're expensive. yup, can't say what's local to you as you didn't provide a location, if you modify your profile you can add that. - Beej - 01-24-2007 white_2kgt Wrote:Done.Andy Wrote:ye olde wheel shop but they're expensive. - white_2kgt - 01-24-2007 Beej Wrote:white_2kgt Wrote:Done.Andy Wrote:ye olde wheel shop but they're expensive. ye old wheel shop would be quite a drive for you, but considering people from all over the country mail them wheels to fix, you wouldn't be called stupid for giving them a chance to fix it. Personally, I'd only try and get it fixed if it were a slight bend or dent in a somewhat expensive wheel (+300) otherwise, I'd just buy a new one. - Evan - 01-24-2007 have heard lots of good things from ye old wheel shope. nasioc boys love em, and from what they say its actually cheaper than most shops. but im with mikey. those things suck bad and deserve a slow painful death. - BLINGMW - 01-24-2007 back to bottlecaps! heh, I never noticed your sig... is a 300i a motorless 3? - Beej - 01-24-2007 Uh, it better be cheaper than $300 to fix a bent wheel. I spent $100/wheel on the last place I went to, and they were pretty fucked up wheels. Searching around, a NASOIC thread popped up and some guy spent $95/ea for repair, plus $10/ea for mount/dismount...back in '04. If it hasn't gone up too much, that's reasonable. From what I can see these wheels aren't really available in the states, so replacement is a pain. Chan, I'm on black weaves now...car looks gross. And yeah, the 300 is the silver 318. If you know of any M10's lying around in halfway decent shape, I need one. - white_2kgt - 01-24-2007 Beej Wrote:Uh, it better be cheaper than $300 to fix a bent wheel. It all depends on the kind of wheel, I was saying I'd only try to repair a wheel that cost me more then $300, any less than that and I'd just chuck it and buy another. - Mike - 01-24-2007 Beej Wrote:Chan, I'm on black weaves now...car looks gross. i think it looks great. i'll snap a pic this weekend and everyone can decide for themselves. - Nick325is - 01-24-2007 Still want those wheels as much as everyone hates them. Wanna trade? -Nick - Beej - 01-24-2007 white_2kgt Wrote:Word, I hear ya. I have definitely two, probably three, wheels that need fixing, and since they're all but impossible to get in the US, I think this is my best option, run on sentences, use a lot of, commas.Beej Wrote:Uh, it better be cheaper than $300 to fix a bent wheel. Besides, if I ever get the thing running right, 195's don't stand a chance.Beej Wrote:Chan, I'm on black weaves now...car looks gross. One was called Nationwide and I yanked their phone number off of one of their delivery vehicles. $150 to straighten (I asked about taking off the tire and rebalancing and he talked up this machine they have, so I'm assuming it's included). It would be $175/wheel to 'make them look like they came out of the box'. They're in Waldorf, but have frequent deliveries/pickups in the DC area. Then I called up Ye Old Wheel Shop in Elridge, MD. They charge $95 to straighten, plus $25 to take off the tire, and rebalance afterwards. I'll be heading up there in the next couple days to drop my junks off. - Beej - 03-06-2007 4 week turnaround time at Ye Olde Wheel Shop...busy. And it was $115/wheel (95 to straighten, 10 to mount/dismount, 10 to 'high speed balance'). Had some sweet ass wheels there though. |
