Except for the suede dash (which couldn't possibly make it to production, could it?) I think it looks good. More brand-like looks (baby Galant, like it should be) and maybe a not shitty interior thought that steering wheel is god awful.
Still, I doubt it'll be enough to drag mitsubishi out of the toilet. So sad.

me likey. Looking right at the front reminds me vaguely of a R34 Skyline for some reason, ther rear has a resemblence to a few cars out already, but I can't really think of them. Interior is awful, but at least it still has a 5-speed, since I had heard somewhere that the next evo would be auto only (which would have been the nail in Mitsu's coffin IMO).

i've always liked the evo over the sti, but i wouldn't want to own one. nothing is enough to drag mitsu out at this point... especially a niche "enthusiast" car.

Interesting to see that they went with the 5-speed gearbox over the new 6-speed in the current models. Guess they had too many problems with them to transfer them to the new model. The new EVO actually looks pretty decent, and I would definetily love to steal those Recaros... but unfortunately both the STi and the EVO are slowly dwindling from there sporty heritage.
I wonder how much of the EVO crowd stays loyal considering the EVO is known for its rawness and now its doctored up with new traction devices and its put on some pounds. Also wondering what the price tag is going to be for those new gadgets.

They have always had electronic yaw control but the S-AWC is a brand new system from what I've gotten out of it.

04 RS front LSD standard
05 ACD and LSD Standard on all models.
Evo 9:

6 speed is only in the EVO MR, they will probably put the 6speed tranny in the EVO X MR

Super Active Yaw Control (SAYC) was never brought to the US, only in Japan, Europe and Australia did the Evo feature the electronic Yaw control.
The new Super Active Wheel Control (SAWC), uses Torque vectoring to send different amount of torque to any wheel at any given time.
The evo X i will judge when it comes out, i love the styling, but until the release the actual features on the car i wont say i like it or not. i just hope they dont make it as gay and expensive as i think they are. They are trying to make it compete with higher end european cars, they tried it once and the same demise will come to it as it did the eclipse, when they tried to make the eclipse compete with higher end cars.
The Evo wont pull them out of the hole, but the Lancer Ralliart should. It wont be the gay Lancer with some wheels and a spoiler and a special emblem. It will be the mitsu version of the WRX when released, featuring the 4g63T and AWD but obviously tuned down from the EVO.

There seems to be a pretty terrible signal to noise ratio regarding the transmissions.
I've heard "5 speed manual, 6 speed manual, 5 speed dsg, 6 speed dsg" all in "brand new" articles about the Evo X. I also heard one article say it was powered by a MIVEC 4G63 and another article say it was an aluminum open deck 2.0.
So, I guess we'll just need to stay tuned.

. I really hope there is some major design behind the 6-AMT transmission for that to be useful. Probably putting on about 200 lbs or so... but considering the lighter block, slightly higher hp and perhaps better AWD system, this thing might be quite a car. It really seems like a lot of thought went into this car, but the overall persona of the car is really changing. Not to mention, I couldn't imagine the price not going up pretty significantly with the increase in interior quality and technology involved. Subaru is next on the chopping block, lets see what '08 brings.

Maybe Mitsubishi will do what they did in the past regarding manual transmissions, offer a 5-speed in the "regular" Evo's, then offer a 6-speed in an MR version. I am not too happy about the multi-color front bumper.

The 6-speed in the MR is really not a spectacular leap over the 5-speed. 1-4 are very similar.

cool, they fixed a lot of my beefs with the car (paddle shift is teh wuss), and cleaned up the body nice, looks pretty good! I wouldnt buy one until they drop a 6 speed stick in there though
