The plan for the car is to replace my 94 C as a daily driver, and take it on track occasionally when I want to drive to the track and not have the PITA of towing the racecar.
Its a nice vehicle, lots of subtle upgrades and tweaks that make the car much better than the previous generation.
this will be going in shortly (freshly painted bronze)

which will unfortunately require me to take the very nice OE windblocker out. Sad but otherwise is a great bar for DD and occasional track use.

I got a good deal on the car but it is not completely void of issues. The paint is a bit faded in spots, which according to buffmaster RJ should clean up just fine. It has a nickel sized hole in the side of the top which should patch no problem.
Ill post up a "projekt" thread in technical section when I start working on it (like ripping that bra off and cleaning up the paint).

What about getting an 993 and living in Arlington?

:?:

Rob, were you dropped on your head as a child?

- Ginger - 12-29-2006

A very respectable looking car, if I do say so myself.

Congrats. Does this mean you're getting rid of one of the lipstick miatas?

- ScottyB - 12-29-2006

nice find. how far back does the bar sit....i'm sure it doesn't post a risk when DD'ing but i'm just curious.

i love those wheels. probably some of my favorite OEM equipment on any car.

- Mike - 12-29-2006

good pick up. what are you gonna use to patch the top? let me know how it works out. also, can you paint the roof or something? i do hate any convertible top other than black.

- Dave - 12-30-2006

nice pick up Evan and sounds like a great plan, for now :-).

- Andy - 12-30-2006

Red sports cars have always struck me as sort of queer.

- WRXtranceformed - 12-30-2006

Great find Evan, looks very clean. =)

only when the engine is mounted in the trunk Tongue

finding a patch kit is becoming harder than I thought. Most of them are just glue-like tubes meant to fix rips, but not an actual hole. I may pay out a bit of cash to an apolstery shop to get it fixed.
Isnt your top cloth?
I dont have strong feelings for the top color either way, but I think the tan looks pretty good with red and black. The drawback is that it gets visibly dirtier easier.

- Mike - 12-30-2006

yes, my top is like vinyl cloth or something. upholstery shops that s owners have gone to have given them a swatch of cloth and some adhesive for free, but i don't know of anyone who has a hole as large as what you're saying... the shop people also say that a repair on a convertible top is a joke and you might as well just replace the whole thing. sales strategy? i don't know, but disheartening to say the least. my holes are small enough that some black duct tape did the trick.

I was having evil thoughts of this on the way home today. It doesnt help that Flyin Miata just revamped their kits and are much improved.

- Sijray21 - 12-30-2006

the pictures do NOT do this car justice. this is a really nice car, one of the few miata's i've actually liked upon first glance. i like everything except the tan interior Wink. great find!

- Ryan T - 12-31-2006

Very nice lookin car man. Now you just need one more and you'll have a handful of miatas. Do it!

- navin - 12-31-2006

Heh, nice pick up Evan.

Also, I was telling my buddy about you since he was interested in purchasing a miata. I was positive you'd be interested in selling one from the fleet.

Shoot me w/a PM about the info/pics of the Miata you are going to be selling.

thanks.

My stamp of approval is on this. I would totally rock a turbo Miata if there was a good condition one for sale.

not bad, welcome to the NB club. replace that cast iron exhaust mani. is it a cali model? as for the top, just swap the red top off your klown kar, unless you've put vinyl graphics all over the top. as for the factory windblocker, people usually just drill holes an inch closer into those side panels to mount the windblocker when they put in a roll bar. you're a pretty tall guy though, so that may not be an option for you. how come those wheels arent UG™ yet?
