The original Gran Tourismo - Evan - 12-12-2006

Formula One: Built to Win for the original NES
I had never heard of it, but I was playing around with some old school games online, and came across it.

Play it online here

Ive been playing it for about an hour and its uncanny the similarities.

Start off with a slow car, upgrade tire, engine, suspension, earn licenses, race in different areas.
The gameplay is even pretty sophisticated for the time, you can drift, opponents block you, and its f-ing hard

pretty slick

it IS pretty good! I've never seen that one, in fact, I didn't even know that NES site was there. Fun fun.

How do you get a damn license? I'm tired of being blocked by blue VW's! :?

- Evan - 12-13-2006

you win a bunch of races. then you get "International C" license.

I downloaded an emulator and the ROM so I could save the game and come back to it

- BLINGMW - 12-13-2006

Ah ok, I thought I was missing soemthing. Yeah good call, not saving sucks. So is this the way you decided to go instead of rFactor?

*edit* BTW, this game also reminds me of Top Gear for the SNES, my brother and I wasted waaaay too much time on that game, but it was a good 2-player and actually had a decent sense of speed. Check that one out if you find a ROM/emulator for it.

- WRXtranceformed - 12-13-2006

Nice, I'll have to check this out.

I've been into emulators for a long time. I have all the old NES games that I used to own on my computer now, including Super Dodge Ball!!

I've got a Neo Geo one too that is awesome, but it hasn't worked for a while for some reason.

- Mike - 12-13-2006

yeah, i used to have a neo geo one, but it doesn't work Sad nester for nintendo is the best. if anybody needs a zip file containing the eumlator and like 700 games, i have one uploaded somewhere Tongue

- Evan - 12-13-2006

Ill give Top Gear a shot. For some reason Im fidning retro games to be a lot more fun right now than even new stuff. The new emulators have 2 player over the internet which is pretty cool

btw chan if you want the ROM for F1 then let me know, its super small

Right now Im looking for the arcade emulation of virtua racing. The first 3d racing sim and predecessor to F355 challenge

- BLINGMW - 12-13-2006

haha I wonder if the emulator can push it above 7 FPS
