Sale! Canon DSLR's - G.Irish - 12-11-2006 I might pick up a Rebel to do some shooting at races next year. Check out the deals on Rebel XT's, XTi's, and 30D's. Of course maybe you could get a better deal anywhere but it seems like a pretty good deal. http://techbargains.com/ - white_2kgt - 12-11-2006 Here's the XT for $270 http://www.ccicameracity.com/canondrxt.html - JustinG - 12-11-2006 white_2kgt Wrote:Here's the XT for $270 That price is body only, no lens - white_2kgt - 12-11-2006 white97dsm Wrote:white_2kgt Wrote:Here's the XT for $270 yea, the body only from the tech site above site is 458, what's your point? - Evan - 12-11-2006 never buy a camera from a shady operation like that. usually they are grey market, no warranty, no accessories, and they call you after you order it to try to get you to buy a bunch of crap with it - white_2kgt - 12-11-2006 Evan Wrote:never buy a camera from a shady operation like that. usually they are grey market, no warranty, no accessories, and they call you after you order it to try to get you to buy a bunch of crap with it a friend of mine bought one from there, original box, canon warrenty everything. At that price you could buy 2! - JustinG - 12-11-2006 white_2kgt Wrote:white97dsm Wrote:white_2kgt Wrote:Here's the XT for $270 no point just clarifying, didnt know if others would realize its body only. - G.Irish - 12-11-2006 Oh wow thanks for the link Chad  - G.Irish - 12-11-2006 white_2kgt Wrote:What camera did your friend buy? A few people have recommended the Nikon D50 i think it is. Is this a good suggestion as a starter DSLR? Or should i just go with cheaper updated camera. I just cant get good shots with my current digi cam that is 5 years old. - Mike - 12-11-2006 G.Irish Wrote:Hmm, this place sounds a little shady: i wouldn't buy anything from them with someone else's credit card the d50 is a good camera to begin with. really, you can even start with less than that. you can get good shots with a point and shoot, but i feel it's an uphill battle there. some of the larger form-factor non-dslrs are pretty decent and don't force you to change lenses and such. - Sijray21 - 12-11-2006 i once tried to buy a DSLR from a similar type of online store. I had to call to confirm, they tried to sell me outragiously priced lenses and accessories. When i denied their sales on the accessories they said they were 'out of stock' of the DSLR's.... - white_2kgt - 12-11-2006 G.Irish Wrote:white_2kgt Wrote:What camera did your friend buy? Any suggestions on those??? - Mike - 12-11-2006 i recommended the canon s2 to my sister a while back. there is an s3 that is out now for $400ish. at that price point you're probably better off just getting a used DSLR. http://www.dpreview.com/ can help you far more than i could hope to. keep in mind that anything over 3-4mp you won't use unless you're printing posters and shit. - flintster55 - 12-11-2006 Like mike said, http://www.dpreview.com is a great place to do research. They have some very lengthy reviews but there is lots of great info. I bought a Canon S3 about a month ago on sale for $329. I have been very happy with it and would definitely recommend it to anyone. - Mike - 12-11-2006 for 329 that is definitely a great camera for someone looking to get in on a budget. for a base-level dslr you're looking at more than that PLUS any extra lenses. without my 300mm zoom, which was like another $150, i'd be lost. i still need something to carry around as well (25-135 comes to mind) since the stock lens falls short, and that is gonna run me another 400 or so. |
