GTHD: Cancelled - G.Irish - 12-01-2006

And I must say, good. Polphony Digital shouldn't be wasting their time making GT4 in HD, they should be putting all of their resources into GT5. Sony needs the GT franchise badly and if they have to delay it into 2008 it's going to be bad news since Gran Turismo, Metal Gear, and Final Fantasy are the three exclusive series that drive Playstation sales(I'm sure I missed some others).

Releasing GTHD as a free download will probably at least placate some fans for awhile but it probably won't do anything to hurt the success of Forza 2.

In the comments for the article I forgot about the Gran Turismo promised for PSP, I wonder whatever happened to that project.

As long as they get away from that retarded idea of paying to unlock new cars and tracks that game will still do fine. The fact that you were going to have to do that COMPLETELY destroyed my desire to purchase that game when I get a PS3.. There's no way I'm going to spend $800-$1000 over the price of the game just to "unlock" everything in it.

SCEI made a smart move in doing that.

Maybe they'll release GTHD for free and you can buy extra stuff for it? Maybe they leaked that rumor to see what the response would be? Maybe someone who came up with the stupid idea in the first place had to fall on his sword as punishment?

Anyway, my bet is GT5 will miss next Christmas.

<Agrees with Gerald on this one. Do all PS3 games have bluray technology in them, or has this concept not been produced yet?

Not really sure. Unless a game is pretty big there isn't much reason to use to extra capacity of Blu Ray discs since they cost more to make.
