Hist of the automobile class - BLAIR - 11-08-2006 lets take it.. HIST 326 #23470 M-W-F from 1:25 - 2:15 Im signed up. who else is in.. we can make this a fun class - ViPER1313 - 11-08-2006 Already signed up. - Goodspeed - 11-08-2006 I checked tonite on e-campus...my sign up time is on Friday...the class is already full. If a spot opens up I may take it depending on the rest of my schedule, otherwise I may not be able to - Ryan T - 11-08-2006 Just a warning, this class is a LOT of reading. You have reading assignments every class and the following class is discussion based upon the previous reading. You have to write one 18-22 page paper and 2 page responses to readings once a week. The readings are interesting though, so it isn't so bad. It's not focused so much on the automobile itself as how the automobile was used to further the growth, expansion and advancement of the country in the 20th century. I really enjoyed the class and finished with a 98 average. - BLAIR - 11-08-2006 did you say 18 - 22 page paper? - Ryan T - 11-08-2006 My bad, re-checked my syllabus, it's 12-20 pages. - Mike - 11-08-2006 expect about an hour of reading every other night followed by a write-up contrasting the two articles you read. for someone that was used to b.s. classes, it was a pretty tough class for me. - Sijray21 - 11-08-2006 Mike Wrote:expect about an hour of reading every other night followed by a write-up contrasting the two articles you read. for someone that was used to b.s. classes, it was a pretty tough class for me. me too and i still wished i had the chance to take this class :x - D_Eclipse9916 - 11-08-2006 yeah its closed, ill try getting in somehow. - Mike - 11-08-2006 contact dr borg and tell him you're in MM. wait.. what year are you? - JustinG - 11-09-2006 good class, descent amount of reading, but if you decide to do the presentation, stay away from nuts and bolts....cause.....it doesnt work just ask Ryan - Jeff - 11-10-2006 I wish I could have got into this, it was full when I checked on it last week. I am in European Military History instead. Any history class is gonna have a lot of reading. - Ryan T - 11-10-2006 ^^Not true, I've taken several history classes with very little reading, mostly just lecture. - Jeff - 11-10-2006 Jesus Thayer...I can't say shit around you without "WRONG!" I have spoken with quite a few history majors (as I was thinking about going that route) and every one of them said the exact same thing. Any Hist without a G infront of it will have a fair amount of reading. I'm not a big fan of reading, so I avoid it when I can. I have not taken all that many history classes at JMU, but even my highschool history classes had a ton of reading I never did. Speak on what you think, but don't bust out the "not true" just because I used the word "any" instead of "most." - Ryan T - 11-10-2006 TurboOmni08 Wrote:Jesus Thayer...I can't say shit around you without "WRONG!" I've only called you out when you either say something that's incorrect or make broad general statements that you can't support at all, such as "all history classes require lots of reading." You have no way to know if that's true or not, you've only taken a few. Out of the 10 that I've taken only 2 were reading intensive, the rest were not. - Ryan T - 11-10-2006 white_2kgt Wrote:white97dsm Wrote:...stay away from nuts and bolts....cause.....it doesnt work just ask Ryan Justin is referring to the presentation you have to make on your topic. Dr. Borg was more interested in broad trends and how the automobile facilitated the growth outward of our country, not so much the specifics or 'nuts and bolts' of individual things. - JustinG - 11-10-2006 ^^^^which is what i got caught up in in my presentation, not on purpose but just because......i did - Jeff - 11-10-2006 Ryan T Wrote:TurboOmni08 Wrote:Jesus Thayer...I can't say shit around you without "WRONG!" Thanks for "telling me how it is." Boss. - Ryan T - 11-11-2006 TurboOmni08 Wrote:Ryan T Wrote:TurboOmni08 Wrote:Jesus Thayer...I can't say shit around you without "WRONG!" I am signed up for it but still on the edge of dropping it due to me not wanting to do any work |
