Go vote. - JohnC - 11-07-2006

I keep telling myself to make up a batch of "I Farted" stickers in the same style as the little "I Voted" stickers... Switch them out at the polling station and laugh all day whenever I see one.

Oh well, maybe in '08.

Go vote today.

- Kaan - 11-07-2006

I went this morning. It was more exciting finding the voting station in Reston than it was dealing with some of the over bearing tree hugging people. but i used my typical line.....

*walk up to the tree hugging guys*
"hey i need a list of all the democrats so i can vote."
*hippy hands me the list*
"great, now i know who not to vote for."

- Apoc - 11-07-2006

That would be funny Kaan if it was... well... funny.

I voted against republicans and school funding.... yay!

- Andy - 11-07-2006

I enjoyed the marriage definition one. That was excellent.

as will i. our country is far worse off than it was 8 years ago...

- Evan - 11-07-2006

and its all the republicans fault!

yay for ignorance!

- Apoc - 11-07-2006

Well... to be honest, I didn't vote against republicans as a matter of rule but that's how it ended up. There's a Libertarian candidate for District 10 of the House so that's pretty much a no-brainer. The Republican candidate for Senate (Allen) is for a ban on gay marriage , for a flag burning Amendment, for border fences... all things I don't agree with. Shame too, 'cause I agree with him on some other issues like loweing taxes and right the carry.

republicans wanted war. i blame our current state entirely on the war... 2+2=4.

Mikey Rules: Politics Version.

Mikey for Senate.

- Kaan - 11-07-2006

thats funny... i blame alot of things on NAFTA... people generally forgot about the outsourcing of jobs from the US to mexico... they were too busy defending a president who was dropping a load on an interns dress to figure out their fucking jobs got shipped out.

build a fence... use razor wire... chain hungry dogs to it.... line the top with men and guns... they already have our jobs why do you need them to come in the country and leech on our school systems, welfare, etc.

my theory is... if you can survive that fence and get in... you deserve it... and you can stay Wink

- Kaan - 11-07-2006

I dont want my rifle to kill deer... i have a car for that... I have the right to own fire arms to over throw my government if i see fit. If there is a political party that is trying to take that away... they do not stand for the same fundamentals this country was founded and people should not support them. If you want to live a life controled by the government... i hear China is a nice place to live.

Mike Wrote:republicans wanted war. i blame our current state entirely on the war... 2+2=4.
Nice try. Democrats voted and approved the war. Of course, they want you to forget that so they can put up mud slinging ads on TV claiming they were against it the whole time.
Evan Wrote:yay for ignorance!

The economy is strong and sustainable, the job market is growing, inflation is low, security is good at home, and overall things domestically are just peachy. Id say things are pretty fuckin' good.
Sure, the war sucks, but anyone who supported it going in (like the dems) who didnt know it was going to suck and take 5 years or so probably isnt smart enough to tie their own shoelaces.

- Mike - 11-07-2006

our deficit is enormous and even our allies dislike us. that's a great way to sustain an empire... yes, that's what we are, and we're due for failure any time now; we're following in the steps of all the great empires before us.

sure, many democrats supported the war at the start, but now that they see it is a failure they don't think it's a good idea to be there any longer. "no plan for victory? no plan for anything but victory!" good one gw... keep it simple and stupid, just like you are.

fwiw, i am not a democrat, i'm just anti-republican on most of the issues.

That's funny coming from a party who supports ban on gay marriage, ban on stem cell research, Patriot Act, etc....

Why do you think people "were too busy defending the president"? Oh that's right, Republicans were too busy trying to impeach him to notice the jobs leaving.

The two party system is so fucking broken... and this thread is a prime example.

- Kaan - 11-07-2006

an empire... thats good... i like that idea. we already pay social security to people in PR. so lets just flatten Iraq... turn it into one huge auto cross course... use the oil money to fund the rest of our screw ups Wink is that what we are doing? or are we trying to help the Government get established?

- Kaan - 11-07-2006

umm democrats put the bill up on NAFTA... that was a strict bill clinton thing. it was his brain child and his idea... Wink good luck pawning that all off on the republicans.

- Evan - 11-07-2006

FWIW, the republican party does not ban stem cell research. The republican led house passed a bill that GW vetoed.

All of politics is fucking broken, not just the 2 party system.

- Apoc - 11-07-2006

Well, I'm against NAFTA as well but I happened to like Clinton as a president.

I think Mikey has a valid point about the US being an empircal state. Regardless of how little Americans care about what the world thinks of them, our foreign policy is the primary reason why people want to blow us up. We're international white people's support away from being a rogue nation.

i don't know what we're doing and quite frankly i'm not so sure anyone in this country does either.

"establishing a government" is just spreading our way of life around the world. who says democracy is the best form of government? we do, and therefore we think it's a great idea to force it on people? the way we're forcing it isn't exactly good for international relations...

i agree, politics is broken. hrm... maybe a result of democracy? we are pretty much the first nation to run with it for a long period of time.
