If you only watch one race this year, THIS IS IT! *SPOILER* - G.Irish - 10-27-2006 3:30 pm, Sunday on Speed Channel For the first time in the last 14 seasons the Moto GP championship* will be decided in the final race. At Valencia, Spain, American Nicky Hayden is the only man standing in the way of Valentino Rossi's 6th consecutive championship in the premier class. Nicky only trails Valentino by 8 points, so for Hayden to win... Hayden 1st (25 points) with Rossi 3rd or below (16 points) Hayden 2nd (20 points) with Rossi 5th or below (11 points) Hayden 3rd (16 points) with Rossi 9th or below (7 points) Hayden 4th (13 points) with Rossi 12th or below (4 points) Hayden 5th (11 points) with Rossi 14th or below (2 points) Hayden 6th (10 points) with Rossi 15th or below (1 point) Hayden 7th (9 points) with Rossi 16th or below (0 points) I am flat out exhausted from our dirt track school today so I'm signing off but if you have any racing blood in your body you'll watch this race. If someone else likes they can explain th econtroversy from the previous round, I'm going to bed. Go Nicky! - Feersty - 10-27-2006 Dirt track school? You gonna have a writeup about that man? - Ginger - 10-27-2006 *psst*, Gerald http://www.mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5145
- Apoc - 10-27-2006 If he posted in there he couldn't have worked in he did a dirt track school for those who don't frequent the motorcycles forum. Duh. - Ginger - 10-27-2006 Nobody uses the "new posts since my last visit feature"? I'd die without it. For the record, Chapin went with him. And I am very jealous. - JohnC - 10-27-2006 And, for the record, I'm exhausted. But this thread is about getting everyone to watch the Valencia race... So watch it. I know I will, probably in the company of ice packs. - Evan - 10-29-2006 Call my cynical but I consider the championship already Rossi's. If his bike doesnt break then the championship is his. - G.Irish - 10-29-2006 Rossi usually doesn't fail to rise to the occasion but this is the first time it has come down to the wire for him and the pressure is on. Valencia isn't one of his best tracks so its far from a lock for him, but I agree, Rossi is the favorite I think we've seen Nicky be a little conservative this year but with nothing to lose I'm sure he is going to fight tooth and nail for the win. The trick is whether someone else will be able to get between him and Rossi. - G.Irish - 10-29-2006 Ahhhhh!!! Leaving to go watch the race now! Go Nicky!!! - Ginger - 10-29-2006 Chasin' the Dream! #69! Go Nicky! - Apoc - 10-29-2006 Just came from Arlington, it's a madhouse with the Marine Corps marathon today. I guess this warning is too late for anyone who's actually going. - Ginger - 10-29-2006 Update: Anybody on the fence about watching this race-DO IT ASAP! Big news in it! - Apoc - 10-29-2006 HOLY SHITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTtttttttttttttttttt - Feersty - 10-29-2006 I just turned it on, go 46. - Apoc - 10-29-2006 I really can't believe they said Nicky lost the Championship 2 weeks ago. I mean certain things had to happen in this race but it was not impossible... or even really that hard to imagine. - Ginger - 10-29-2006 Feersty Wrote:I just turned it on, go 46. You can't actually be watching the race after hearing that.... - Apoc - 10-29-2006 What a great season. - Mike - 10-29-2006 asteele2 Wrote:Feersty Wrote:I just turned it on, go 46. lol - G.Irish - 10-29-2006 I am so incredibly happy for Nicky. You could see all the hard work and effort he put into this season and it all came right for him. Throughout all the tough times he was professional and humble, it's just great to see a good guy like him win the title. Who would've guessed that Rossi would make a mistake. I can't even remember the last time Rossi crashed out of a race. He definitely did not do it this year and I don't think he crashed out last year. He showed great sportsmanship and respect for Nicky after the race: Rossi Wrote:Of course this is a big disappointment for me because to arrive at the final race with an eight-point advantage and then not win the title is a disaster. Basically I made two mistakes today - one was at the start and then the second one was the crash. It has been a very emotional season, with some great moments, some bad luck and now some mistakes. But this is racing. All I can say now is a big 'congratulations' to Nicky because he is a great guy, a great rider and he is the World Champion because he has been the best this year. I have known him a long time, I know his family well and even though I am disappointed I am also very happy for them. It has been a great fight with him this year - not like in the past with other riders when there have always been some polemics - and we have great respect for each other. - Feersty - 10-29-2006 asteele2 Wrote:Feersty Wrote:I just turned it on, go 46. You're right, I watched it for like 3 minutes. |
