Seems like a good idea to me. Cheap too. Maybe just a cheap idea? I've seen a few places selling these, and if they result in a 10-20 deg reduction in oil temps like this article claims, well that's worth $20. Certianly I'm not expecting the thing to do the job of a real oil cooler that's much larger.... but what have you guys heard? Anyone else tested one of these with an oil temp gauge?

Given the limited amount of volume through and airflow around the oil cooler... I'd say its BS.

But i'd test one (gauges in my car soon... I think).

yeah, I didn't give much credit to their first test setup, where they had a 50MPH wind blowing across the thing. I can't imagine that ever happens in my engine bay. But the real world tests they said they did showed good results as well. Test it out for me RJ.

Buy it for me and I'll test it Wink

I'm assuming their test setup is sitting on a dyno too (no airflow)? Wink

i've seen those things before with a magnetic strip around the clamp which claims to hold onto the little metal bits of engine circulating in the oil. i always figured the filter would catch that crap in the first place, but i'm not sure. give it a try RJ/chan

$20?!?!?! Aren't replacement E30 engines only a couple of bucks anyways? C'mon Chan, I expected more from you

lol

Give it a shot, but try to find a way to record realistic info for us in. Possibly a group order in future if it is truly a real mod. Like you said, $20 isn't a major loss if it is BS, but it'd be awesome if it actually did some good.

It would make it easier to remove the filter even if it did not cool it that much
