The STi's replacement. - Beej - 10-21-2006 Kinda miss my roots with busted shit, so I decided to get another e30. I've been thinking about a swapped car for too long, but wasn't really looking when this one came along. Cliffs notes: 1990 325iS (160k on chassis) 95 M3 motor (3.0l, 90k miles) and tranny Decent exterior. Crappy interior (but crappy seats will stay for awhile because they're heated). It needs some attention in a couple places. The biggest thing is that it doesn't quite pull like I thought one of these would...but I'm kind of torn between blaming that on the STi (this should be a decent match for it but doesn't quite feel like it would be) for altering my perception of speed and wondering if something is actually wrong. Compression looks good so it's a solid motor, but I'll start looking at everything else as well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() - .RJ - 10-21-2006 Nice buy! Those wheels gotta go though  - Chris - 10-21-2006 YES!! another busted E30 (well this one actually looks good). I kinda agree with RJ on the wheels, how about the other ones you have?? those would look hot. I want a ride sometime please! - ScottyB - 10-21-2006 that car is straight gorgeous! the STi was cool but it's always nice to get back to something that feels like "you." even if it is slower. so what is the fate of the 318? are you gonna keep it as a track rat or DD? - WRXtranceformed - 10-21-2006 Nice find man =) You'll need to supercharge it to keep up with your old STi though =P - Beej - 10-21-2006 Haha, rough crowd. I love the wheels - they're gonna be around for awhile. I sold (and regret doing so) the BBS's. Would've been awesome to have those on the 318 and these on the s50, goddamnit. As for keeping up with the STi, more than a few swapped guys have reported keeping up with stock STi's (they are about 500lbs lighter). And really...I can count the number of times I've legitimately raced someone on zero hands. The thing that I REALLY like about this car is that it is just plain old fun. The STi had a tremendous amount of grip and honestly, it was so good at everything that it's limits were too high to enjoy safely on the street. I think I'll enjoy this thing a lot more. And face it. STi's are fucking ugly. Tinkered with it and fixed a bunch of small things today. Stoked. EDIT. As for the 318, I'm in the process of swapping motors (the old one was beat). It'll be the winter car. A buddy from back home is really ragging on me to get out on track...we'll see about next year. After a few years hiatus, I'm feeling the motorsport itch coming back a little. - WRXtranceformed - 10-21-2006 Beej Wrote:STi's are fucking ugly.BAN!!! That statement must be prefaced with "2006" to be legitimate. - HAULN-SS - 10-21-2006 haha. right on, i actually like the wheels. They fit the stance and lines of that car nicely. That engine bay is super clean too! - Nis01 - 10-21-2006 LoL. STi = hawtness. (04-05) STI = fugly. (06+) Nice buy. That car looks like it would be a lot of fun. - Apoc - 10-21-2006 Those wheels are god awful. - Maengelito - 10-21-2006 Beej Wrote:. And face it. STi's are fucking ugly. cmon... look at those wheels! haha, nice e30. i love how its got the e36 m3 swap. i'm sure that thing will make a very mean track machine. just get some better wheels for it now... ![]() - Feersty - 10-21-2006 The red glistens. Nice buy BJ. - Mike - 10-22-2006 so much hate on the wheels! yessss <3 - PDenbigh - 10-22-2006 Nice project dude! - Andy - 10-22-2006 The engine is a sexy beast but the wheel, the wheels. Este no es bueno. - CaptainHenreh - 10-22-2006 Sweet car! I think the STI might have altered your perception a little bit, but it still should be wickedly fast. I rode in a car with a similar setup at Summit Shen and it was unbelievable! Congratulations on your new old e30! - Sijray21 - 10-22-2006 holy moly, that thing is HOT! i love this car and this is one of the nicest e30s i've ever seen! i thought you may be rolling back to the old school route, but man..this this is hot, i love it! i actually like the wheels personally. Those are borbet Type-A's i believe or something similar. Great style for that car IMO. - BLINGMW - 10-22-2006 yes! 8) - Jeff - 10-22-2006 Very hott...minus the ugly ass wheels. I dunno what it is...they are just to 80's alloy bling for me. Is the car red or orange? The engine looks Hemi orange in the picture. Edit- car looks red in every pic but the last one. Must be the light - Chris - 10-22-2006 so what suspension is in it? Its either the large wheels or that thing is really low. |
