For those interested in driving other tracks closeby.... - Dave - 10-16-2006 Hey guys, I was looking back at my experiences and realized that aside from one event at CMP, all of my driving has been done at VIR and Summit. Now, that isn't all bad, but I'm yearning to learn some new tracks. For now, anybody interested in doing this next year, post up some tracks that you'd like to hit. I'm trying to keep them within 10 hours, which I feel will give us plenty of tracks to work with (granted, I don't really know travel times for a lot of these places). Once we get a decent list, I'd like to determine what groups will be running at the different places see where we can go next year. Basically trying to find a way that we might be able to go as groups, to be able to support each other and work together to reduce costs and such. Here's a list of tracks I've heard and really want to attend in the near future (in no particular order): -Road Atlanta -Watkins Glen -Beaverun -Mid-Ohio -Lime Rock -Rockingham -Roebling Road - navin - 10-16-2006 BeaverRun and Mid-Ohio (not even sure how far it is)... I still need to knock off VIR from my list still. - PDenbigh - 10-16-2006 I can eliminate one for everyone - Lime Rock. I was there with Blackforest and from what I saw and heard, it's like a big circle track in reverse. The town doesn't have much to offer either. Not that it wouldn't be fun if you lived 1 hour from it, but I don't feel it would be worth the drive for most of us. On the flip side - Watkins Glen - Awesome, awesome, awesome. Town is cool as heck too. Highly reccomend. I think it took Chad and I around 6 hours IIRC.... Chad? Super fun course, the uphill esses are every bit as fun as VIR and I personally enjoy them much more. - Evan - 10-16-2006 Watkins Glen Mid-Ohio Road Atlanta those are my top 3 within 10 hours drive. we should all try to hit Watkins Glen with CarGuys next year (early July) Flag 2 events with them between now and then and get it for free. Im going to try to hit Mid-Ohio at least twice next year + nasa nationals. Id do Beaver if other people are going - Sijray21 - 10-16-2006 navin Wrote:I still need to knock off VIR from my list still. mee too - Feb will be done with that i would like to do watkins glen, road atlanta, and beaveRun next year - navin - 10-16-2006 Pete, Would you reccomend driving the Glen if you did not have a tow vehicle. If I remember correctly I've heard of some close walls and what not. - Maengelito - 10-16-2006 Evan Wrote:Watkins Glen i wanted to do watkins glen for a few years now. i'm totally down with that. i really wanna go back to road atlanta (aside from nearly dying, it was an amazingly fun track) and mid-ohio should be a lot of fun too. i'd definitely like to do beaverun and i also wanna do barber motorsports park. i'd like to try carolina motorsports park too. i've been there once, but didnt drive it. - Andy - 10-16-2006 I'm down. If the trans wasn't a being a bitch, I was planning on hitting Beaver in September. It would be awesome to have company. Being at the track by yourself takes away from the enjoyment. I love being on track but if I can't bounce ideas off of folks and talk some smack, it just isn't the same.
- ScottyB - 10-16-2006 for whoever comes down to road atl: you guys can crash at the Bradford fort. it might be a squeeze but as long as you guys don't mind spooning you could all lay out on the living room floor  - white_2kgt - 10-16-2006 Like Pete said, we've done WGI, it was right around a 6hr tow. I would _rather_ forgo that track this year for my long distance track and do MidOhio. There are some tight walls @ WGI, but the corner workers there won't let you go fast b/c they will black flag you before that happens.
- Dave - 10-16-2006 great feedback guys! This is what I want to hear. Here's a quick tally of what I've got so far from this thread, in order of most feedback: -Watkins Glen -Beaverun -Road Atlanta -Mid-Ohio -CMP --Barber Motorsports Park -Rockingham -Roebling Road -Lime Rock (I can't find a website for Rockingham and I don't have flash player on my computer right now so I couldn't get into Mid-Ohio's site) Everybody, I've attached links to save some time so you can look into each track. Once clubs start posting up their schedules, I'd like to integrate that into this list so we can figure out a plan. I'm like Andy, in that I thrive when I have friends close by. I can do these alone, but I feel that we'd enjoy it more if several of us go together. - Maengelito - 10-16-2006 Dave Wrote:I'm like Andy, in that I thrive when I have friends close by. Just don't stare at them (seriously) and you'll be fine. Here's my in car vid from WGI from this year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mReeMF4o71c You can see walls, but notice that any of the main areas in which you would run off have pleanty of space. If you are going to drive 6 hours, I would reccomned WGI over CMP by a large margin. Road Atlanta looks like a blast to drive, I'd be in for that one as well. - Chris - 10-21-2006 I definitely want to get to Road Atlanta and WGI. I am also dying to get back to VIR and haven't driven Shenandoah yet! - Andy - 10-21-2006 Chris Wrote:I definitely want to get to Road Atlanta and WGI. Actually I'd really like to do watkins glen too, i think its about halfway between VA and NH. - bimmerboodle - 10-25-2006 navin Wrote:BeaverRun and Mid-Ohio (not even sure how far it is)...Mid O is about 400 miles or so from Summit - bimmerboodle - 10-25-2006 PDenbigh Wrote:WGI does have some close walls but they aren't scary.
