My Challenger... Oh what to do. - Jeff - 10-06-2006 So, you may have seen in my sig and in the tech forum that I have a 1971 Dodge Challenger (base +V8 ). It was my dad's second car, and the one he drove while he was here at Madison College. So, I hope by my senior year to be finally doing the same. Let it be known that when we started this ordeal the goal for finish date was my Senior PROM. So in this 5+ year restoration process father and I have drifted apart (him into apathy, me into...the Daytona) and there is no real ideas for where this car is going as far as its look. As soon as the Daytona is done (and the van is fixed) this car becomes TOP priority. I will not be buying any other turbodoges accept for parts. I will start by saying we cannot change the yellow color. We have already painted the engine bay, trunk, and door jams. Questions- -Do I stick with the white interior we bought for it, or do I sell it as a complete interior and buy black? ![]() Our interior looks just like this one. The differences are the seats, doors, and headliner are white. The dash, console, and carpet however are black. I have the wood grain and wheel like that. -Stock wheels? It has the rallys on it, 15X6. I was kinda inspired by those "jap classic" cars. I was thinking maybe if I kept the white interior and did white wheels w/ a black lip. -Flat black accents- This follows with either the white or black interior. I think we should do some sort of striping in flat black with a flat black hood. ![]() -Lip? Spoiler? (above) I'm kinda diggin this for some reason... In flat black of course. ![]() Note that this is a 70, and the stripes above are 70. I like the 70 stripes way more then 71, so those are a winner, but the 71 front end is mucho mas... ![]() One final note for this post. Our hood is like the one on the primer car. Simple flat. There are two other hoods for this car we could use. One has a huge scoop on it (six-pack) the other is like the one on the red car. We will likely be getting a fiberglass replica of the one on the red car. So, IÔÇÖm open to other suggestions. Please save any sentiment of ÔÇ£put in a hemi,ÔÇØ ÔÇ£put in a 4-speed,ÔÇØ ÔÇ£paint it another color,ÔÇØ ÔÇ£boost and/or nos,ÔÇØ ÔÇ£Restore it back stock,ÔÇØ or anything that would undo work already done. - Jeff - 10-06-2006 As I look at the red car, I can't help but think... Yellow car, flat black spoiler and front lip, flat black wheels with polished lip, chrome accents, black interior....dual exhaust out before the rear tires. - ViPER1313 - 10-06-2006 Please no front lip :? - Jeff - 10-06-2006 ViPER1313 Wrote:Please no front lip :? Don't like it? I assume those are brake vent holes or foglight things on the front. I don't like that too much. The stock "lip" that came on the T/A and was a Direct-Connection performance part is actually a two piece thing called the "eye brow" spoiler.
- ViPER1313 - 10-07-2006 Image not work... - ScottyB - 10-07-2006 i think a white interior is kind of dope, maybe stick with bright silver rallys or bright silver with flat black lip. i myself am partial to the chin spoiler, but i'd rather see it flat black than yellow. no decklid spoiler for me. and from the other thread on this car, i say boom tubes exiting before the rears. - Jeff - 10-07-2006 Here is the spoiler from the red car...this makes it cooler! ![]() The spoiler on the back of the green car is called the "go wing" was a Mopar Performance (Direct Connection) accessory. Adam, I fixed that pic of the T/A car for the DC front spoilers - Evan - 10-09-2006 red car all the way hood, spoiler, grille, :bling: - FbodyTech - 10-18-2006 gonna be a nice car, I've always like a white interior in a muscle car as long as you can keep it clean. But being that this is a challenger, that shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't recommend white wheels though and also not liking the front spoiler. Definetely go with some accents. - Jeff - 10-20-2006 HOLY CRAP! I'VE FOUND IT! ![]() This is what I want the car to look like. End of story. Only things different will be the chrome mirror and oem chrome wheel lips. What u guys think of that ish there? - CaptainHenreh - 10-20-2006 TurboOmni08 Wrote:HOLY CRAP! I'VE FOUND IT! Feersty? How did you log into Maeng's account? - Nis01 - 10-20-2006 Any current progress notes? Seriously finish this project. I'd love to see this thing properly done and on the streets. - Jeff - 10-20-2006 this car has been dormant for 3 years now. Hasn't been touched...accept by the cats that were living in it. I am trying to get 4 cars back on the road and it is a little stressful seeing as I have only 1 full day on the weekends to do it. The priorities are as follows... Van - this weekend! Omni - Next weekend! Daytona - few weekends and money I don't have! Challenger - there after At this point the only Challenger related stuff I have been doing is with the dashboard that is in my spare bedroom. I need to order the correct color paint to finish the bottom of the dash and then I can put it all together. I have a Kenwood stereo ready to go in it and infinity component speakers I am hiding in the front dash. Once all that is done we need to hang the dash back in the car and start painting all the white moldings black and get dad to order all black interior for it. First I need to sell the white. Then we will put the glass back in and paint it. Dad told me last week that the windshield got broken somehow...damn it. Its a long road ahead for me and all my various cars. Re: My Challenger... I am patiently awaiting the completion of this project. i think i speak for everyone though when i say "just finish one project before you pick up 4 more" - WRXtranceformed - 10-20-2006 I really like the way the green car looks in that pic, but I think you should even out the front / rear suspension heights. Some people might disagree, but I think an evenly slammed car looks way better than the snow plow, even on a muscle car. Re: My Challenger...
