Free: 11 HP Briggs and Stratton vertical shaft engine - PDenbigh - 08-29-2006
I have a disassembled Briggs 11hp vertical shaft engine that I want to get out of my garage. I was going to bore/stroke it and put it on my riding mower but I don't have time.
It has a bad rod bearing (would have been replaced with stroke plans anyhow) but other than that it's fine and functional. It was running when I took it apart, just rattled a lot due to the rod bearing (er, bushing in this case).
The engine is around 9-10 years old and has about 6 summers of lawn mowing a 1 acre yard on it. It was well maintained, and I'm not sure why the bushing failed. It was on my Dad's mower so I never even had access to it to pull the governer and such.
Anyone want this thing? Speak up soon please.

It really is a neat little engine. I'd never been inside of one until this one. Simple and complex at the same time. The crank doubles as the camshaft but then it has some a wild balancing thing that causes the rotating assembly to "float."
I have all the parts, it's just in pieces. I'd like to get it out of my 1 car garage sooner than later so let me know at your earliest convenience.

Ehh, if you want to bring it over to my place I'll set it out in the back yard until I figure smething to do with it. Sylvia's dad has 2 mowers with 11hp briggs...might be good for parts. My 10hp needs a starter...that might be cool too.
