JMU forums? - ziich - 08-29-2006 Just wondering if anyone knows of any populated general JMU forums. Mainly looking to sell/buy shit and find out if there are any computer literate people out there that can figure out NTC's internet here. A google search only found abandoned forums. I know there's a group on livejournal, but there are few subscribers. (formerly christo) - G.Irish - 08-29-2006 What's up with your NTC connection? Spotty service? - Sijray21 - 08-29-2006 http://www.jmuspot.com/message.aspx i think there are a few others though that are more frequented - the national forums are not just JMU. Use The Breeze if you want to sell/buy stuff though. there may be something on jmaddy.com but i'm not sure - white_2kgt - 08-29-2006 What do you want to know about NTC? I had a little fun w/ them years ago when I went there, haha - ziich - 08-30-2006 why does the service suck so much? and how make it stop sucking so much? currently I'm stealing internet (using someone else's account to login, which strangely doesn't affect her internet in ashby at all) then i'm sharing it in my apt in hunter's ridge with one other roomate via wireless router. I guess I can't really complain because it's free internet, but my torrents download slow as balls (0-12k/s, when I was able to get 100k/s+ at one point) and roomate is complaining about bad ping in CS and warcraft. Webpage access also occasionally goes down while connected (AIM would still work fine). I've been messing with MTU #'s all freakin night. Is NTC PPPoE? I'm just pissed that they had the audacity to raise prices this year and still provide crappy ass service. They also expect each resident to pay for their own account: $45 activation, $26/mo and claim that internet sharing is a violation of their policy. They've also managed to restrict most off campus residents from getting internet elsewhere. Is that legal? gtfo ntc! - white_2kgt - 08-30-2006 ziich Wrote:...internet sharing is a violation of their policy... bahhhhahahahaha, I wonder why that is OMG LONG LIVE!!! www.ripoffntc.com NTC has always sucked, I would imagine that they have started to intentionally mess with .torrent downloads and most other file sharing protocols. It sounds like they have grown to big and just didn't expand their service. When we lived there there wern't nearly as many apartments and NTC didn't service but a few of them. - WRXtranceformed - 08-30-2006 Your roommate is probably going to get shitty ping regardless on a wireless connection. Just a thought. I'm with you though that NTC is indeed the suck. They actually sent me a bill for a month's worth of service literally a year and a half after I had discontinued it with them after graduating. I laughed, called them up, bitched them out, and they removed it  - ScottyB - 08-30-2006 WRXtranceformed Wrote:They actually sent me a bill for a month's worth of service literally a year and a half after I had discontinued it with them after graduating. ha, same thing happened to me, i got a bill after moving to Georgia.
