Rally X, who here does it? - GQROB - 08-21-2006 I am just lookin for more info on it. How hard it is on a car, and where these events take place? I have managed to find only two events a year that are somewhat in my area. - D_Eclipse9916 - 08-21-2006 Not much in the area, but they are fun. Its hard on the body of the car and also mud gets everywhere, and I mean everywhere. - mrbaggio - 08-22-2006 I have done 2 or 3 events. The events I did were in Orange VA, close to UVA. If you drive within you limits the damage to the car is not that bad for the occasional rally Xer. The course at Orange is pretty smooth. As in is it from gravel and rocks that would chip your paint. I did get a few scuff marks from tapping a tire course marker. The dust/dirt/mud does get everywhere. One event I went to it had been really dry and the course was quite dusty. When I got home the entire car was covered in an orange clay dust. Inside and out. Took and while to clean. Some people have had problems with tires coming off the rim, but that can be avoided with the correct tire pressure and not driving like an idiot. Other than that it rally x is an awesome experience. If I had the time and the resources I would be out there every weekend. Let me know if you have any more questions and let me know if you go. Maybe I can come out for an event. Was ok, not run very well at that time and very expensive comparitavely, but definately a blast to drive unfortunately orange is going to be about a 2 hour drive for you rob - GQROB - 08-24-2006 I might drive to the Orange event. I am kinda leary of tearing up the 2.5RS though. I know that sounds lame considering it's rallyx potential, and all the money I put into it for track duty. - Maengelito - 08-24-2006 a guy that works at cdoc in central va is named rob bergstrom. really nice guy and i think the dc region champ for rally crossing. i think jvimpty here on the boards knows him or codrives with him. i've gone to a few of the events, but never entered. i'd really like to try it once though - mrbaggio - 08-25-2006 pick a date and lets do it - mrbaggio - 08-25-2006 GQROB Wrote:I might drive to the Orange event. If you drive within you limits it is very safe and less damaging to the car. If you are really worried add some mud flaps or tape up the car a bit to fend off the occasional rock. The is pretty smooth tho. - GQROB - 08-28-2006 I will let ya know if I decide to run the Orange event October 15th. I probably won't though because I planned to go hang out at the Summit Point NASA event. mrbaggio Wrote:pick a date and lets do it - Kaan - 08-28-2006 what? Rob you are coming back to hang out at a NASA event? holy smokes batman! i'll have to break out the widowmakers! - GQROB - 08-29-2006 Yup, but just hangin out for now. I might start running HPDE again next year. I am thinkin of getting a Miata for track duty. Kart Racing just isn't as fun for me. |
