This Weekend's Racing (8/05) *Now with Spoilers* - G.Irish - 08-05-2006

Saturday

1:00 Grand Am Cup @ Barber (SPEED Channel)
3:00 X-Games Rally (ABC)

Sunday
7:30 am Formula 1 @ Hungaroring (SPEED)
2:00 pm Formula 1 @ Hungaroring (SPEED)
3:00 X-Games Supermoto (ABC)
5:00 AMA Superbike Race 1 @ Mid Ohio (SPEED)
6:00 AMA Superbike Race2 @ Mid Ohio (SPEED)

The F1 race should be rather interesting because both Schumacher and Alonso got big penalties for unsafe driving this weekend so they're starting the race way back in the pack. There is only an 11 point gap between Shumi and Alonso so every point counts.

WSBK @ brands hatch airs tuesday, 1pm (round 1) and 2pm (round 2).

- Evan - 08-06-2006

- G.Irish - 08-06-2006

Well guys if you didn't catch the morning F1 broadcast you'd better make damned sure you watched the 2 pm broadcast! All I gotta say is, its a wet race! Confusedhock:Confusedhock:Confusedhock:

- white_2kgt - 08-06-2006

That was the best F1 race I have watched all season, damn. If rain is what it takes to make good racing, they should wet the track every weekend.

- ScottyB - 08-06-2006

congrats to the winner, good to see him finally get that first

- Evan - 08-07-2006

DO NOT SPOIL THE WORLD SUPERBIKE RACE PLEASE! It doesn't air till tomorrow.
Evan Wrote:what happened to schumi and alonso? I walked away for a few min and came back and they were out

Schumi apparently had some sort of steering failure. He decided to stay out on Intermediates too long and would've lost at least 2 places if he pitted to go to dries. He was chopping and blocking De La Rosa and went off twice trying to stay in front of him (cutting the same chicane) and apparently that damaged the car and he had to retire. Still, he was driving like a jackass and probably should've gotten a drive-through penalty for cutting a chicane to maintain position.

Alonso had come in to switch to dry tires and I believe that's when he gave up the lead to Button, who was right on his ass up to that point. The right rear lugnut got put on wrong and he hit a tire wall. Some were saying he was having a driveshaft problem, some say it was the lugnut. Guess we'll find out this week.

According to crash.net - Renault came out and said it was definitely the lugnut.

Well, Robert Kubica is now permanently replacing Jacques Villeneuve on the BMW Sauber team. Kubica was formerly their Friday driver and finished 7th in his race debut yesterday. Unfortunately he go disqualified because his car was underweight at post-race scrutineering. The weight he lost from the rubber degradation on his intermediate tires left him 2 kg underweight.

The DQ put Schumacher back in the points [edit: he was actually weighed].

For 2007 Mark Webber of Williams Cosworth just signed for the Red Bull team alongside David Coulthard. These leaves Christian Klien out in the cold, although honestly he hasn't done a whole lot to secure his seat in his last 2 seasons.

Schumi got pushed off track the first time he cut the chicane, I watched that several times and there was no where else for him to go. The retarded Speed people keep bitching about him needing to give the spot back, that was BS, now on the second time he cut it, well...

Sounds like it was a well executed pass then

In that case be should have ceded position. He continued driving so he could get back on in front of De La Rosa. What if everyone just cuts chicances whenever someone trys to pass them?

Hell no. You don't cut inside somebody, and then because you can't hold your line track out into somebody and expect them to rollover. Mike could have held his line and sustained contact, but that would have been stupid. He got pushed off track, drove off track and kept his position, he did what any racecar driver would have.

- .RJ - 08-07-2006

He didnt track out into Schumi, he held the inside line going into the corner under braking. That is a classic pass under braking and if you want to make the pass stick you slow guy down that you are overtaking and take away his turn in point.

Go back and watch the replay. He did NOT hold a line, he tracked out to the curb into Mike, what the hell was Mike suppose to do? Hand him a cup of tea and say come on over my little friend?
