2007 Laguna Seca MotoGP Trip - 7/20 - 7/22 - JohnC - 07-25-2006 http://www.laguna-seca.com/pressrelease ... cfm?ID=253 Quote:MONTEREY, Calif. (August 9, 2006) ÔÇô The Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP) announced today the dates for the 2007 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix featuring the MotoGP World Championship and the AMA Superbike Championship. The largest motorcycle race in North America will take place at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca July 20-22, 2007. The date for the event is tentative, subject to the release of the full FIM calendar in September.

- Ginger - 07-25-2006 D'uh! - Dragon - 07-25-2006 Damn skippy! This time, fly into Monterey, get the car there, my friends got flights for around $300. Camping + Support Vehicle + sober driver to crash with friends at nearby hotel and let you drunkards walk into the track. - G.Irish - 07-25-2006 Each of us should sit down and come up with some improvements and lessons learned so that we can do even better next year. I'll come up with a list then post it here. BTW, my guess is that next year will be July 6-8. Usually they have the USGP in the first weekend of July but they switched this year because of World Cup. - JohnC - 07-25-2006 The RV was a good idea, but the setup at the track just isn't ideal (especially when you've got 6 guys using the limited resources like LP, water, gas). I definitely would rather just camp next year. Use a few coolers, and send a support vehicle out for ice at some point. We need an EZ-Up (or two). One for the camp site, and one for trackside. And chairs. - Ginger - 07-25-2006 Those are good ideas.... beer & pizza brainstorming session? - Dragon - 07-25-2006 An EZ-Up trackside would be good, but security was telling most people to take them down because they were blocking people's views. In some cases at least lower them to the point of defeating the purpose of lugging them to the track in the first place. Having the EZ-Up as a checked bag might be a bit of a pain (although no more than people that check their skis I guess). 1) Tent(s) + Support Vehicle(s) instead of RV 2) Pay a lil more moola for a closer campground - .RJ - 07-25-2006 asteele2 Wrote:beer & pizza brainstorming session? - Dragon - 07-25-2006 Kim let me know that the manager already has her set for a few rooms next year so I'm going to pitch some cashola their way as well since I will have to crash at their room a couple nights after the festivities on Cannery Road. That is of course unless we all want to try and pitch in for taxi(s) back to the track from Cannery. - Dragon - 07-25-2006 Just an additional thought, as a mutually beneficial compromise for both us and the .netters. We get a larger support vehicle, such as a mini-van/cargo-van for shuttling us back and forth at night, since there's bound to be more of us next year and y'all seemed to enjoy Cannery Rd. In return for them letting the sober driver crash at the hotel room after dropping y'all off at the gate, I shuttle them to the track in the morning using the support vehicle and the support vehicle pass. - Ginger - 07-25-2006 You're going to be drinking next year? If we're going to get hammered in Monterey we're going to need to have a place to stay there. We won't be able to get back into the track after midnight since we won't be remotely close to where we were this past trip. HDH is too late for me
- Apoc - 07-25-2006 You guys should aim higher. Monaco GP is where it's at. - Dragon - 07-25-2006 asteele2 Wrote:You're going to be drinking next year?Nope I'll be sober again. Good point about the not wanting to walk up the hill to the campsite. Didn't think about that. - Ginger - 07-25-2006 Dragon Wrote:asteele2 Wrote:You're going to be drinking next year?Nope I'll be sober again. Chain some pitbikes up by Archer and ride them back up drunk? Or would that be a bad idea? ![]() (see the joke, PLEASE!) - Dragon - 07-25-2006 asteele2 Wrote:Chain some pitbikes up by Archer and ride them back up drunk? Or would that be a bad idea?Of course there's always the novel idea of y'all not getting hammered, just toasty enough so that you can still walk straight. The getting a place to stay in Monterey won't work if it's all of us. It's either campsite, or hotel. - .RJ - 07-25-2006 Apoc Wrote:Monaco GP is where it's at. Bikes > F1 If i were going to see a GP race in europe it would be a moto gp race in Spain (Jerez, Catalunya, Valencia take your pick) or Mugello. - .RJ - 07-25-2006 asteele2 Wrote:Or would that be a bad idea? I dont know, if we can remember where they are, and how to start them then we must be sober enough to ride them up the hill right? Besides, it wont hurt (that much) when you crash a crf 50!

I'm not worried about getting hammered and not being able to walk... it's the distance. If we got a site up between Turn 5 and 6 like Speed Forums did then there's no way we'd be able to walk up there, sober or not, from the front gate. - Ginger - 07-25-2006 .RJ Wrote:asteele2 Wrote:Or would that be a bad idea?
