It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to a member of the NASA Mid Atlantic family. Our chocolate lab mascot, Sherman, died on Friday as we were setting up the HyperFest. We received the call while we were at the track. If we seemed a bit less enthusiastic this past weekend we must apologize as his this weighed heavily upon our minds. Sherman "Racer Dog" Cobetto loved the track and loved to meet all the members (especially if you were holding a hot dog!) He made our time at and away from the track more enjoyable and he will be sorely missed. Shermie was 10 and suffered no pain. He had a big heart but it just needed a rest. For those that have expressed their condolences we are truly appreciative. - Chris and Laura Cobetto

yeah i heard... at summit, the first time i saw Laura i was like "hey long time no see... how ya doing?"... bam she started crying. She told us about sherman... and i stuck my foot in my mouth. Sad he was a good ol' tank... i mean dog.

That stinks, but at least he was a good companion for a long time with you!

I had to put a dog down a few years ago.... I had him the whole time I was growing up, but better off that way.

Losing a dog or other companion animal is horrible and it hurts bad. the worst is driving to the vet knowing they aren't coming home......Sherman was cool.

Sad i can't imagine losing my dog... best wishes to you, cobettos.

yeah, me neither. when our family jack russell dies it'll probably have me in depression for a month straight. my sincere condolences, Cobettos.

My dog passed away about 2-years ago... I still miss him.

I'm very sorry to hear that. But it's comforting to know he's hanging out in that big race track paddock in the sky.
