ok, so my new rectifier came in. i toss it in, toss the new battery in, jump the bike w/ the civic's battery, and it's running, but the headlight and dash lights are all cycling w/ the motor kinda of like flicker bright/flicker dark.
i decide to take it for a ride...
the speedo doesn't work. sometimes... when i give the bike a little throttle around 3-4k rpms (just to cruise), the speedo is on. when i tap the brake, the speedo comes on. when i use the turn signals the speedo comes on with the blinks.
the bike hesitates when giving it heavy gas. kind of like a misfire... and the headlight dims. solution? tap the brake, the headlight brightens and the bike runs fine.
annnnd the battery isn't charging. ideas?
i put the multimeter on the battery as i gave the bike gas and the voltage drops. is that correct?
i don't know shit about eletronics, but it seems the opposites are happening all over the place. tap the brake (use more juice) and the headlight brightens? don't give the bike heavy throttle and the speedo works?

Did you get a full charge on the battery before you put it in?
If not, then it aint right at all, you cant just jump a new bike battery. Do you need to borrow a charger?

i trickled it with a car battery. when i put it in it was at like 11.5V. after riding it is down to like 10.9V.

How'd you trickle charge it with a car battery? You may have killed it already with too many amps.
You can borrow my trickle charger if you bring back my speakers.

i just hooked it up to a charged car battery that was sitting on the garage floor. andrew said to do it!
the guy at coleman said you can't charge a fresh battery with a trickle charger...

That guy is a dummy. Fill it, charge it for ~6 hours and put it in the bike....
Andrew killed 4 batteries in a span of 6 months. I've killed none, and put a new battery in each of my bikes, charged with a 1.5 amp charger before putting them in.

Uh, if what they say doesnt work, or whatever, it sounds an awful lot like a grounding problem. Make sure all the grounds are connected, and if they are, hit them a couple times with a wire brush to make sure you ahve good contact.

My charger is 2 amp (switchable to 1amp)
