In car camera mount - Andy - 06-21-2006

Where can I get a nice but relatively inexpensive mount. I went on I/O Port's site and it had one listed for 110 bucks. Screw that. I don't want to pay too much but I still want one that will hold up and not let go and destroy a much more expensive camcorder.

What do you guys use?

ioport. it is pricey for a reason.

Get it. Don't skimp on the mount. You will pay for it once and reap the rewards for years to come with great video. That is the one I have and it has so much adjustablilty and shock resistance that makes it worth the price. Just do it.

Limited adjustability, little to no shock resistance and it doesn't include the required safety strap for $70? For 40 more you get the IO port one, doesn't make sense.

You might as well sell it to Andy, not like you are every coming back out to the track.

Hot stone massage?

Wohoo!! My very first post on MMSports.

I made my own camera mount that's very similar to IO Port's, all for $40.

First I bought a tripod head for $28:

And I bought two U-shaped muffler clamps for $4:

Then I got a little metal plate and screwed the tripod head to the metal plate. Then attached the two muffler clamps on the other side of the metal plate. Then clamped the muffler clamps to my rollcage. Voila!

How about a polyurethane pad to absorb the shock?

- Evan - 07-14-2006

ioport mount blows

I made one for less than $30, that is much better than the ioport and has all the adjustability.

ask me later and Ill tell you how I made it, maybe even do a writeup

If I didnt want to build one, Id buy the Rivergate /VS mount
