NoVa --> WV Ride, Saturday 6/17 - .RJ - 06-13-2006

This ride will be at least 150 miles - I have not calculated the route distance - plan accordingly.

IN!:

RJ
Andrew
Apoc
Ross
Edwin (from H-T)

*Meet at the haymarket Sheetz at 10:30 am, to fill up with gas, snacks, etc.
*Forecast is for temps in the high 80's.
*Andrew says there is a good restaurant on 211 just outside shenandoah national park, so we can stop there for lunch.
*Assuming the roads are in good shape, we'll ride 'the pace' for most of the ride. Faster than a sunday cruise to church, slower than "burn the michelin man off your pilot powers"
*Make sure you have enough gas to make it to haymarket
*Bring water, cash, etc....
*I will be in full leather (disclaimer)
*Print/Write down the route and put it on your tank
*When we go through shenandoah park on 211 we'll all be riding the speed limit - no excuses. The locals and cops do not want bikers up there using 211 as their own personal kneepuck testing ground. I've read that there are rumble strips at the entry to a lot of the turns now and the cops will be out on weekends pulling people over for whatever they can. Make sure your inspection, insurance, registration is up to date (*cough* andrew *cough*).

wow...that's a hell of a ride! i'd place it well over 225 miles since that's almost near h-burg.

I'd defintely be in if i didn't have to help my mom to move things using a truck she borrowed from a friend. Well, depending on what time you guys do this, but i doubt i'd be back or be done in time Sad

+1

I'm going to the DMV tommorrow!

And yes, 211 is a disaster. You might as well not look at the police wrong because they WILL pull you over. The speed limit is plenty for the road.

Hope to see a good group

Iunno... the high 80s is really stretching it.

Mesh FTW!

We can move the time if that fits schedules better.

- Apoc - 06-13-2006

I don't think this has enough turns. Please rework and get back to us.

Yesssssssssssssssssss

Doesn't someone have a freakin' video camera I can mount?

Oh and I'm still 50/50 pending photoshoot.

- .RJ - 06-13-2006

I have a Canon ZR60... will that be too big?

Have you seen how big my camcorder is? Gotta be twice as big as yours. Oh wait... the mounting plate is in my camera bag, in my racing gear bag, in my racecar. Fux0r.

- .RJ - 06-13-2006

You've got all week to go get it Wink

- Mike - 06-13-2006

don't worry bout slowing the pace for me, i'll be in manasshole doing up my msf.

- Apoc - 06-13-2006

3 hours roundtrip... not worth it!

- .RJ - 06-13-2006

your pops is retired, come up with some excuse for him to drive to your house Smile

- Apoc - 06-13-2006

Ironically enough the photoshoot I'm supposed to be doing on Saturday is at his house. I could also try and work the Father's Day angle but that's Sunday and also of no help.

Would sunday bring better turnout? Either day works for me.

- Ginger - 06-14-2006

I'll hate you all if you ride Sunday instead of Saturday.
