Wedge Bracket + Pro2000 = no workie - Andy - 05-11-2006

How the fuck can they be so well known and make a bracket that doesn't come remotely close to fitting. More importantly, how do I fix this? Drill and tap? I don't know if I have enough room.

Drop it on a tire.

Er, wrong thread... I'm guessing the holes dont line up? You are probably going to have to drill 4 new holes in the seat bracket to bolt the seat to. I've got some pimpy drill bits if you need them.

seat mounts - Andy - 05-11-2006

Hey, I'm going to wait until the sliders come. I figure mocking up the holes with sliders will be easier than actual seats.
Got time to help me out weekend after next?

Is this a common problem. The holes horizontally is about .5 in off but the front to back seat is about 3inches off.

- .RJ - 05-11-2006

You're putting sliders on that thing? What for Wink

Bring it up here, we'll get out the power tools, the torch, and some beer....

- Andy - 05-11-2006

This is another problem. The hump on this seat doesn't allow one end of the seat to sit flush against the bracket.

Torches and beers? What am I doing? Putting an engine together.

Will the hump (huhu) clear with the slider bolted to it?

Sliders haven't come so I don't know. God I hope so.

- Evan - 05-12-2006

wedge/sparco brackets are notorious for not fitting.

- Andy - 05-12-2006

Spoked to a guy with an MR2 that runs Pro2k's and wedge brackets. He said that you need the sliders to make the combo work. I hope he's right. We'll see.

sparco brackets suck, I ended up making my own,

What do you need? That mount took me about 8hrs to make over 3 evenings, so there's probably no chance of being able to do something in just 1 day from design to fabrication but could over a weekend.

- Mike - 05-14-2006

ick that's some serious time. i need it all... i suppose i'll give piper a call.

- .RJ - 05-14-2006

Piper = $200-250

werd. I think I had about $20 in materials for that mount.

.RJ Wrote:Piper = $200-250

i know, but i don't want chad to spend 16 hours working on this...

Making 2 of the same would take less time, all the fab work is done, and you can paint/prep them on your own. I'll do them both w/ your help (you cut/prep metal) for $100 Big Grin

That's a steal. I paid 210 for my wedge brackets.

I called a guy at Dave Turner Motorsports in CA and he was very helpful. Wedge Engineering makes an E30 bracket (actually they custom make them for various seats) and I got one for my Sparco Circuit for $110, and universal Sparco sliders for $55. I also had them make a bracket for my passenger seat and called him up with the measurements for the bolt holes in the Sabelt Racer 2 and he is going to drill the holes accordingly. Very helpful if you guys ever need anything, oh and they are a master distributor for sparco and tons of other brands. He even threw in some hardware kits for free!
