VW Help - REED - 05-05-2006

Since its most recent accident, my mom's passat has been making a rapid "tick tick tick" sound that is definetly coming from the front driver's side. The sound is very audible from even a couple feet away and only occurs when straightenig the wheel after making a left turn? Any suggestions? Any help would be appreciatted as my sister and I have to drive it from VA to RI next weekend.

wheels bearings, maybe axle.

sounds like it. if the ticking speeds up in relation to vehicle speed, it's a reciprocating part in the wheel area, which would be bearings or axle stuff. bearings tend to vibrate or hum from my experience though, ticking was always an axle thing....cv joint specifically.

if the ticking speeds up in relation to engine speed that's an engine problem.

The worn-out front bearings in my truck definitely ticked.

could it be something with the steering linkage?
