Starting a pool: When will Evan finish his website? - Mike - 04-19-2006 It has been in the same state (minus a minor image change) for a couple years now. - Feersty - 04-19-2006 Well at least the "coming soon" icon is updated! - BLINGMW - 04-19-2006 Evan has a website? Not work safe I assume? - Mike - 04-19-2006 BLINGMW Wrote:Evan has a website? Not work safe I assume? no, that is his sister's. - white_2kgt - 04-19-2006 evan, the source code for my website is modular, as long as your host does php and mysql you can use my code and make your own template. it's super easy to add new things to it as well, you can name your cagegories whatever you want. the admin interface lets you add in new things and upload a zip of images which it will resize for you. to make the template you'll need to be pretty decent in html and the markup code is supereasy. if you're interested let me know. - Ryan T - 04-19-2006 Maybe we should just take bets on which will come first, G's racecar or Evan's website. - .RJ - 04-19-2006 A better bet would be - G's racecar vs. The Carbotech Website (that evan was supposed to do 2 years ago  ) - Evan - 04-20-2006 lol well at least my racecar is finished! Chad I may take you up on that. Is it PostNuke?, phpNuke? Something similar? I looked at PostNuke a while ago, but 2-tier webdev makes me cry. Ive actually been meaning to get a Jboss Portal site up, or at least something custom with Tomcat. hence the huge delay. - white_2kgt - 04-20-2006 Evan Wrote:lol I call it autochad  aka, I wrote it like 4 years ago and have been doing things here and there to improve since then. The most recent addition was the template system (based on phpBB). I had a version on Tomcat/JBoss but it was to resource intensive for what it did so I switched back to the php version. If you want to use it I'll have to walk you though the setup and show you a few things as there isn't much documentation on it (yea for CS person doing documentation, NOT). Just let me know. - Evan - 04-20-2006 do you run your own server off your home connection? That would be ideal for me, but when I tried it the speed was horrendous. (fuck verizon dsl) Like slower than 56k for anyone connected to the server. So I have some cheap, shitty hosting plan. It does have php and mysql though - white_2kgt - 04-20-2006 Evan Wrote:do you run your own server off your home connection? I use to when I was at JMU and before they locked everything down, Then I moved to MD and hosted it off my cable modem, site started getting popular so I moved it to a shared host and promptly outgrew it in 2 months. I now have a dedicated server in TX that I host my website on and a forum. I have about 800MB in pictures, no shared host could offer that much space for what I'm paying for a dedicated server. Plus I have an ass load of bandwidth. |
