Recommend any exhaust shops in Hburg for patch work? - AustinSTi - 04-18-2006

Well if you know my car, or heard it lately its been sounding like ass. I Put it up on my boys lift back home over easter and found a crack/hole in the header. Anybody know of any exhaust shops in harrisonburg that could spot weld a patch or something to that extent? Anybody know how much this usually costs so I dont get G'd? Thanks~austin

doesnt MM get a discount at monroe muffler or something?

- Mike - 04-18-2006

i don't trust their welding work... you saw that pile of shit i pulled off of my car, didn't you?

- Maengelito - 04-18-2006

Murph's muffler does good work.

I'm pretty sure this is the shop me and pete took my mustang to once to have another set of subframe connectors welded on. Welds look good on those and damn strong, nice guys too. They are just off 42 near that underpass?

That's him. Their unofficial motto is, "No Muff too tough, for Murph"

I think that contact is now gone. They are under new management. But you might as well try them out, it can't hurt.

yes it can hurt, they could do a worthless job for you as they did for me.

yeah, as much as i liked about the guys at Monroe, the welding was less than stellar. They are indeed under new management, so I highly doubt MMers will get any kind of discount from now on.

Monroe jacked up my clutch in my old accord. i don't know how they did it (it's hydraulic) but i imagine when the clutch feels mad soft after only sitting for a day there must have been some abuse going on at some point. i was not pleased.

anybody got a ballpark on the price?

I doubt anyone can give you an estimate w/o seeing it. Does it need to be tigged or can you mig it? Is it just a crack or a big hole (metal missing). Are you going to remove it and take it in or have them remove it? I doubt you can weld what you're talking about while it is on the car.

If you just need it welded take it off and go by several places and ask them. Don't rule out fab shops as well.

murphy's fixed it in about 10 minutes...thanks
