Are you joking? - Feersty - 04-12-2006 http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/car/150518580.html Mk4 Toyota Supra > $3000 - ScottyB - 04-12-2006 scizzam - Goodspeed - 04-12-2006 I think thats the 3rd time I've seen that car for sale on DC craigslist - Sijray21 - 04-12-2006 probably a scam... - Dave - 04-12-2006 I'd vote on it being a scam. However, it is NA, has a decent amount of mileage, 1st year, no options, about as base of a supra as you can get. If this owner has been living under a rock for the past 10 years, he may think it is worth this. Or it has a lot of problems. - Sijray21 - 04-12-2006 Dave Wrote:I'd vote on it being a scam. i already sent an email to check this out in-person. we'll see what he says  - JackoliciousLegs - 04-12-2006 Jay, I will send you the money for that damn car if it's really 3k. Sounds kinda like the E46 M3 for 12k that I saw. Too bad the guy was in London... lol. - Sijray21 - 04-12-2006 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:Jay, I will send you the money for that damn car if it's really 3k. - Jeff - 04-12-2006 what should it be worth? - Sijray21 - 04-12-2006 TurboOmni08 Wrote:what should it be worth? worth is closer to $8k, but they probably sell for $9k due to rarity and demand - all contingent upon the condition of the car though. - Sijray21 - 04-12-2006 Sijray21 Wrote:probably a scam... change that - definitely a scam: scammer Wrote:The car is in Detroit,MI at a Shipping Company.I am out of country due to my work i'm going to ream him one and report this as a scam - Feersty - 04-12-2006 How does he sign the title over if he is out of the country? lol. - Sijray21 - 04-12-2006 Feersty Wrote:How does he sign the title over if he is out of the country? lol. he can still sign it and mail it (like that'll happen...) - or the "shipping company" has it in their name as collateral for whatever reason i'm entertained as to his response, i wrote back: "i have a friend in Detroit willing to go check out the car, what's the information and contact information for the shipping company? Where are the title and keys?" looks like if this is legit Jack has a better chance than i do ![]() the fact that he posted this in a washington, dc CL site almost deems it a scam since he's out of the country and the car is in "detroit"...i'll play for a little bit - Goodspeed - 04-12-2006 TurboOmni08 Wrote:what should it be worth? No matter what KBB or anyone else says, you will NOT find a 5sp NA Supra for under 12k these days. Nice 5 speed examples go for up to 17k, while beat auto TTs will go for bottom 18k. Rarely you'll find theft-recovery or minor damage/salvage title TTs for less than 18k. - .RJ - 04-12-2006 Thayer paid $9k for his, IIRC. - Dave - 04-12-2006 I also wrote him, but he didn't mention anything about Detroit. Definitely a scam though. If I was only going to be out of the country for a couple months, I wouldn't be selling my sports car for a 10k less than its worth :-). This particular example, based on the information, is probably worth close to 12k if it is in really good shape. You can get an auto NA for 9-10k. 5spd will probably fetch about 11-12 on average. The TT cars have such a wide variance in prices that it is really hard to give an average. The automatics are desired by drag racers, and 6spds are what everybody wants. It really just depends on how beat up the car is. I've seen TTs go as low as 15k as well as 40+. Ryan got his NA, albeit a little rough around the edges, for 8k, which was a retarded good deal. Wayne bought his black single turbo TT for 18k (which is what I paid for mine), cleaned it up, raced it, and sold it for a decent profit. I don't think he paid much more for the current baltic one. The price you pay for a supra depends on how flexible you are on your demands and how long you can wait. - Ryan T - 04-12-2006 Slightly mistaken Dave, I got my n/a for $9,900 down from the asking price of 10,500. This was an obscene deal for a 5sp. hardtop though. The average fetching price for an n/a supra, as stated above, is around 11-14k depending on condition. - Dave - 04-12-2006 my apologies, i don't know where i got 8k from, considering i was there for the whole thing. It should also be noted that the hardtops typically fetch a much higher price in all of the supras (unless you're in Europe) because they are quite rare. - Goodspeed - 04-12-2006 Wow, I guess there are some deals to be had if you're lucky. You stole your car, Ryan  I think the market for the MKIV is starting to calm down....the mad rush after F&F has largely gone away and prices are starting to come down, and some real nice, mint examples are starting to come out of the woodwork. Still, stock examples continue to fetch original dealer costs, and that will never change as stock ones become rarer and rarer. I'm still waiting for the little old lady with a TT - Feersty - 04-13-2006 Ryan T Wrote:Slightly mistaken Dave, I got my n/a for $9,900 down from the asking price of 10,500.
