sooo i installed this new intercooler and bam.. some leak is going on someplace and i can't find it...

well, if all you messed with was the plumbing around the IC, that would narrow down the search i guess. maybe put soapy water around some of the IC couplings?

over-boosting? I assume youve checked this, but do you have a boost controller on there? Or even an electronic boost controller solenoid stock? If you do, to see if its one of those problems, find a boost source (pretty much anything off the intake manifold) t-into it and run it straight to the wastegate. IF it is still overboosting its probably the wastegate arm getting stuck closed. Check to make sure its opening up all the way.

yeah DJ, I'm thinking it is the MAP sensor, WG solenoid, or Baro sensor. There is only one known vac leak that should not be the problem. I'll check into it the weekend after the show.

Speaking of boost I IMed a TDer to ask about suspension stuff and got off talking about cars in general. I gave him a link to the Daytona thread and he told me my intercooler was some "weak ass shit" and sent me a link to his... OMG

Over-boosting? If there is a problem with the map or Baro sensor then your fuel trims would be off and your car would seriously not idle right, at what rpm does it overboost, is it boost creep or spike? Also boost leaks would not cause over-boosting, they would actually show on your boost gauge (if its run off a manifold line, or after the leak) that your boosting less or the same as what you have it set to, but your turbo is working harder as it has to overcome the leak, this is very bad for the turbo. That and lack of power is why a boost leak is a serious problem.
If you need any help (Which im sure you dont) but want an extra ear to listen for those boost leaks let me know. Im a dork for turbos and will drop anything to work on one.

Thanks DJ. The boost is computer controlled. The just goes strait from O to over 14.4 (cut out) when you 3/4 to WOT it. The RPM only gets to like 3,000. The car has only been run sense I have had it in warm/mild weather. The Baro/Map don't need to be working all that well for a TD to idle/low RPM. I will look into it when I have some time. I need to get a boost gauge on it.
