Random Projects - Jeff - 03-31-2006 I created this thread to tell MM about my random projects outside of the Daytona. However I invite others to post their random projects here if there is not enough to say to warrent a thread. So First off. Many might not know that Sylvia got a 01 PT Cruiser a month or two ago. "MM PT" proudly on the plates. ![]() ![]() We got to fooling with it last weekend and the ricer in me got the better. We istalled a SRT-4 short shifter and I made  a K&N short ram. Sounds and looks good considering it cost $25. Also removed all the logos and installed a sound system (that is old news, may have posted that awhile ago) The newest folly of my money wasteing is my new car!! ![]() Ugly huh? Well, it is a 89' Dodge Spirit, base model. It has 95,000 original miles on it. I have the records back to when it was new (Purchased from Woodstock Garage) and I have the original window sticker. Why would I do this? Well, it has new tires, many new parts, and it was only......wait for it....wait for it.... $100!!!! It needs a new head/headgasket which I happen to have laying around. ![]() So this weekend I am hauling it to the garage and getting it running. I'll be fixing the side moldings and maybe painting the roof (same color as sylvia's other car, it needs some paint so we will make one batch). The other reason I got this car should be easy to figure out... ![]() ![]() Oh yeah bitches!! Another TD! I will be fixing this one and letting it go however...if you love something...you let it go...and you make about $900 in the process!!! - Mike - 03-31-2006 you have issues. - ScottyB - 03-31-2006 haha, Jeff you are one crazy guy. but hey i like following your projects! so when are you going to overhaul some old PowerWagon or something with serious redneck potential? - white_2kgt - 03-31-2006 My random project for the month has been the trailer. Doing a winch, 110 electrical, lights and a tool box, ![]() Winch mount before paint. ![]() Floor back in ![]() Lights and 110 plugs. I have a hookup at the front to plug into at the track or at home. Tool box is today. - Evan - 03-31-2006 my project recently has been my '90 miata. car smelled funny so i shampooed all the carpets, cleaned the top, and swapped in the seats from my 94 fixed the tear in the window, and polished it (see plastX thread) basic maintenence like new fuel filter, plug wires, air filter. next up is gear oil if i get a chance washed and waxed it and now that I just bought a replacement for it........its up for sale - Maengelito - 03-31-2006 Mike Wrote:you have issues. fo' serious - JustinG - 03-31-2006 so did dodge just put a turbo on pretty much everycar from 70s & 80s??? - Jeff - 03-31-2006 white97dsm Wrote:so did dodge just put a turbo on pretty much everycar from 70s & 80s??? Chrysler has built more turbo cars then any other company...ever...in the world. I love them for it. What is my "issue"? I'm buying a car for almost nothing ($120 shipped lol) that I can fix for almost nothing ($75 gasket set, cost of about 12qts or oil and 1 filter) and likely selling it for WAY more then that. Its just a fun way to make a little coin. - JustinG - 04-02-2006 Quote:Chrysler has built more turbo cars then any other company...ever...in the world. Weird, nice random knowledge though
- Jeff - 04-02-2006 Well, got the old head/turbo/intake off. The only pain in the arse was the one downpipe bolt. It has a tabed bolt that "always" shears off. So other then that smooth sailing. The head on the car was warped out .006. The service limit for head warp is .004. The head off the Daytona (2.5L TI) was just laying around so I checked it and the deck was .001 off on one high spot, so I am using that. Once I get some head studs I can start putting it all back together. Spent a good 2 hours vaccuming all the dog hair out of it...lol - Jeff - 04-03-2006 Runs like a damn top. Does not heat up, idles great, and has TONS of power. The ony problem I am having is at WOT I hit overboost cutout (14.4PSI). Its kinda cool because for about 3 seconds those shits are lit up white-smoke-style and the boost just keeps on coming...then fuel cut. lol. We ran it though woodstock at night with no exhaust...that was fun. Now the exhaust is back on, I will be getting an inspection this week and I should be able to get the OB condition figured out the weekend after the car show. Any ideas on what might be causing it boosted friends? |
