Slow down folks! - Big E - 04-19-2004 Watch out for WV state troopers next time anybody goes out on 33 west. I know it isn't the same but, I got pulled over for my first speeding ticket yesterday on I64 right outside of Charleston, WV. I was just driving with traffic and a WV trooper on the side of the road in his Dodge Ram pointed me out. So I pulled over, he got me doing 79 in a 70, which I knew I was doing, and I explained to him that I was simply going with traffic. So I thought he was going to be cool and give me the warning, but instead he comes back after processing the paperwork and says, "Hey, this is a nice car, I bet it is easy to get out of hand with this car, considering what your license plate says (CYAH LTR)." I said "No, sir. I was just travelling with traffic and don't think this ticket is fair, and "see you later" is simply a saying I use with some friends." Well, I signed the summons so I could get going because I had a prior commitment in H'burg at 2pm that I couldn't be late to. After I sign it, he pulls the "Sir, you seem nervous, are you concealing any contraband that I should know about." I said no, of course, because I am not into that stuff. Then I asked him about payment, because WV doesn't do the $5 or whatever for every mile over. "So what do I need to do about the payment, because I am not planning to come out here ever again," so the cop takes it sarcastically and says, "What does that mean, you have a problem with state troopers," and he goes on and on. Well, he finally lets me go, and so today I called the magistrate court of Kanawha County (what the f*** name is that) and I never talked to anybody, it was simply a voice recording. 9 and less mph over is $125, 10-15 is $130, and 16-20 is $135. So now I am out $125 for a stupid ticket that I shouldn't have gotten. Sorry, but I needed to vent, as for I will always remember my first speeding ticket being a fluke by a stupid WV state trooper. - JohnC - 04-19-2004 I've always heard that WV state troopers are trigger-happy with the radar guns... I had a friend get pulled over on the interstate (south of Morgantown) doing 5 over. Sorry man
- white_2kgt - 04-19-2004 Gezz, 125 for 9 over, pete how did you ever afford gas??? ![]() -c - KPWSerpiente - 04-19-2004 Being ticketed for under 80 in a 70 is lame. Real lame. -T - Big E - 04-19-2004 Hey John, where are you living in P'ville if you don't mind. I grew up in P'ville and live on 690 south of the town ( it is the road with the 7-11 without the gas pumps) - Ryan T - 04-19-2004 That sucks man
- Evan - 04-19-2004 WV is known for that. They raise the speedlimit to 70, but enforce it much stricter. Im surprised that the traffic was flowing that fast. Everytime I drive in WV the traffic slows down much slower than in a 65 in MD or VA. - PDenbigh - 04-20-2004 white_2kgt Wrote:Gezz, 125 for 9 over, pete how did you ever afford gas??? LOL!! You have to remember, I have WV tags, so they don't pick on me nearly as much... seriously.. Actaully, I do have 5 tickets from WV, and they were all very well deserved, but I've also had 4 warmings, so I'm running decent odds. - Kaan - 04-20-2004 no i think its called pressing your luck
- JackoliciousLegs - 04-21-2004 That's so ghey. Who gives a ticket for 10 over. - ButtDyno - 04-23-2004 That's crazy. I was on 81 through WVA, driving back home after my junior year of college. I was doing 73 in a 70 but apparently it was a "construction zone" with NO CONSTRUCTION. So ultimately 18 over. The ticket was $87. On a related note, you get more points on your license for what I did (18 over in a construction zone) than for driving on the wrong side of the highway. I don't know if this helps other than making you pissed off, but I agree that WVA is teh worst. john - ViPER1313 - 04-23-2004 Anybody know what 5 points will do to your insurance in MD? I'm trying to figure out how much im going to be out over the next 2 years if I don't get my ticket reduced / thrown out in court. - Kaan - 04-23-2004 if you didnt get the ticket in your state, then most likely you wont even have it hit your record. - .RJ - 04-23-2004 Kaan Wrote:if you didnt get the ticket in your state, then most likely you wont even have it hit your record. If you got it in MD it will.... - ViPER1313 - 04-23-2004 It was in MD....... Has anybody here gotten a ticket w/ XXX amount of points? How much did it increase your insurance? - Feersty - 04-23-2004 Drive a Buick or Oldsmobile, you'll never get tickets. - ViPER1313 - 04-23-2004 I drive a green 1997 Ford Taurus GL - itÔÇÖs not a cop magnet by any means. There is no way I can talk myself out of this ticket though. Either the cop doesn't show, the judge takes some pity or I cough up $523 and get 5 points. |
