WRX Vs A Tree at 120MPH - WRXtranceformed - 03-15-2006 Absolutely horrible crash. It's all over the Subaru and EVO forums. Was a 23 year old kid driving his 2006 WRX, pronounced dead on arrival. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() From what I've read, the guy was less than 2 miles from his house, was driving 120mph+, went airborne and struck the LONE tree in a field 8 FEET UP. Another quote I read: "A few days prior the kid was overheard (by an off-duty Highway Patrol officer) talking about how fast the car was, that it would do this, and do that. He remarked to another officer that he'd probably be seeing the kid again (thinking he'd be giving him a speeding ticket soon)." Very tragic, and very stupid at the same time. Drive smart out there guys. - Nis01 - 03-15-2006 Thats hideous. Stupidity > Safety equipment. Horrible to see nonetheless. - Ryan T - 03-15-2006 That's freakin scary. Two streetracers in my home town were racing one night and a guy in a prelude with two other people sprayed nitrous coming through a turn and understeered directly into 3 closely packed tree's at about 90mph, killed all 3. I too have hit a tree in the past, goin about 30mph. - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-15-2006 last week a friend of mine died running from the cops. A year ago another one of my friends died when he was racing and pulled in the other lane to pass on a 2-lane curvy road and lost control and went into a tree. Please guys, keep these off the streets. A little low-speed messing around is fine, but stupid to race and do high-speed control, whenever I am playing with you guys I always have another 20 percent of the car in reserve in case I need to turn harder or react to something. One reason why I am so adament (sp?) about autocrossing, and this has hit me personally. - ScottyB - 03-15-2006 thats sickening. to think that kid might have become something, and achieved great things over the next 60 years of his life makes it so tragic. 23 years old, and he died for no good reason. - Jeff - 03-15-2006 What a fool. - JustinG - 03-16-2006 theres no way in hell anyone could have survived that....wrecks are bad when you cant even tell what part of the car your looking at. im think we set up a lil display at the car show showing the effects of stupid driving. a lil community service action. - Sijray21 - 03-16-2006 TurboOmni08 Wrote:What a fool. agreed i don't want to say that he deserved this, but this is sad. You drive recklessly and you have bad things happen to you. I have learned through tickets, this guy had to learn the very permanent way ![]() - Feersty - 03-16-2006 Lee, was this local? - Evan - 03-16-2006 ugh thats sad. I bought my WRX when I was 22.....I remember what it was like. Im glad I didnt do anything dumb like this. - JackoliciousLegs - 03-16-2006 holy haysoos ![]() - Mike - 03-16-2006 i think that rotor might be usable. - mrbaggio - 03-16-2006 dibs on the lug nuts. (i dont have a soul) - Dragon - 03-16-2006 I say give Feersty some time with at least two of those rims and his polishing skills and they'd be ok. He sure had more than enough experience with his hub caps I've got faith he can bring these back to usable condition. - WRXtranceformed - 03-16-2006 Feersty Wrote:Lee, was this local?Nah I don't think so. |
