How many modes of transportation do you have? - Sijray21 - 03-14-2006

A little follow up on Jack's

made me a little curious. This includes bicycles and wheel-ed objects, but not shoes/feet/toes, etc Tongue Basically anything that you could use to class/school/work?

This is also currently, not in the past. Oh yeah, cars that don't run don't count Tongue You must own the object or be the primary care taker of it.

2. supra, hdpt.

- white_2kgt - 03-14-2006

I _could_ drive the 'stang to work, but probably wouldn't. No way in hell I'm riding my bike to work. For 1 it is over 3 miles and 2 I'd be dead by the time I got on the interestate.

they both count - if you HAD to, you could

i'm just curious, i think that MM has a LOT of transportation methods Wink

[remembering about scotty's old bike we crashed into the Sunchase Lake...]

- JohnC - 03-14-2006

Ninja, Lightning, WRX, and... Gravely!

Thats 2 wheels (inline), 4 wheels (x2), and 2 wheels w/ 2 skids...

- Dragon - 03-14-2006

you dont have a "mode" for each vehicle
driving anything with 4 wheels = 1 mode
2 wheels and engine = 1 mode
2 wheels and pedals = 1 mode
sneakers = 1 mode
etc

- mrbaggio - 03-14-2006

2 bicycles
1 motorcycle
1 car.

Mode 1 - Front Wheel Drive (Mazda)
Mode 2 - Rear Wheel Drive (Mustang)
Mode 3 - 4 Wheel Drive (Expedition)

so HA, mode was never defined in the original post

- Evan - 03-14-2006

no, "mode" is defined by the english language, which apparently isnt one of your strengths...

MODE according to Webster online
<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/mode">http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/mode</a><!-- m -->
Quote:1 a : an arrangement of the eight diatonic notes or tones of an octave according to one of several fixed schemes of their intervals b : a rhythmical scheme (as in 13th and 14th century music)
2 : 2MOOD 2
3 [Late Latin modus, from Latin] a : 2MOOD 1 b : the modal form of the assertion or denial of a logical proposition
4 a : a particular form or variety of something b : a form or manner of expression : STYLE
5 : a possible, customary, or preferred way of doing something <explained in the usual solemn mode>
6 a : a manifestation, form, or arrangement of being; specifically : a particular form or manifestation of an underlying substance b : a particular functioning arrangement or condition : STATUS <a spacecraft in reentry mode> <a computer operating in parallel mode>
7 a : the most frequent value of a set of data b : a value of a random variable for which a function of probabilities defined on it achieves a relative maximum
8 : any of various stationary vibration patterns of which an elastic body or oscillatory system is capable <the vibration mode of an airplane propeller blade> <the vibrational modes of a molecule>
synonym see METHOD

Nope, nothing in there about 2 wheels vs 4 but there was this,

Quote:4 a : a particular form or variety of something b : a form or manner of expression : STYLE

Which is open to lots of interoperation, you choose 2 wheels vs 4, and I choose FWD/RWD/4WD, fucking ISAT majors.

So Feerst, you can afford to own an airplane and a metropolitan subway system, but you use cheap spray paint to make your foglights yellow?

Feersty Wrote:I said 4....

Funny how you guys jump on feersty for saying the metro when ryan posted the bus as a mode in the second post of the thread....if you ask me the metro is an obvious mode of transportation, and to be honest it wasnt really defined as has been stated by chad.

ANYWAY  , I have one. Tongue
