Cali police dept. training video

- Goodspeed - 03-13-2006

Yeah its getting pretty rediculous. Can't have a blue hose on your car!? WTF. They even ignore the fact that some parts are CARB legal and will still write you a ticket. According to their laws, a Ferrari should be illegal, etc. And I find it interesting how you can't have your car too low, but you can have your pickup truck with a 12" lift and 44 inch tires. Why don't they ever pull over loud ass domestics/harleys etc? I love California, but now I don't think I could ever live there

- Mike - 03-13-2006

hahaha the blue hose is illegal.

- JustinG - 03-13-2006

wow Cali sucks, no adjustable timing or ignition??? how do you modify a car out there, and why did they modify a SOHC engine so heavily. I think thats what it was anyway correct me if im wrong.

- eurospeed951 - 03-13-2006

So does anyone know what exactly is not legal in virginia? Not that that info will change anything.

- JustinG - 03-13-2006

certain tint, exhaust is upto the cop, blah blah....virginia is one of those states that got the bright idea to make two seperate sets of laws, one for inspection and one for the cops to go buy.

- Jeff - 03-13-2006

If the club would like I could pull out the inspection manual this weekend and try to make a list of INSPECTION related failures. They are getting the lists more and more in line.

Expanding on what Goodspeed was saying, I've noticed that cops must be insanely patriotic, because the ratio of imports to domestics (cars, trucks and bikes) that get pulled over is insane. You ever heard a police Harley take off? Those POS's are rather loud........ but noooo.......

- JustinG - 03-14-2006

i dont mind the loud exhaust on bikes such as harleys, i would think they should be allowed so you can see the damn things. If anyone should have ear piercing exhauts it should be motorcycles.

very true. My Z28 camaro was more than twice as loud as my integra, but I never got pulled over for my exhaust in the camaro. I was pulled over 3 times for my exhaust in the teg.

So cali infers that any modification implies street racing??? That is Horse Puckey.

- Kaan - 03-14-2006

FACT: Virginia State troopers and Fairfax Co. cops in the SS Cams have illegal exhaust on them! My brother did his internship with the county maintence facility that works on them.

FACT: Loud pipes save lives... on my way to work today i would have been run over by soccer mom in her HUGE ass dubed out Hummer IF she didnt hear me... i KNOW she heard me and still almost ran me over.

FACT: Virginia state law says the bottom of your bumper must be 14 inches off the ground... go measure a new vette and see if it passes.... it also mentions something about the frame rail. YES even with my car on a STOCK suspension i've been pulled over and measured... and let go for exhaust (i dunno why, i just thank god).

FACT: you cant modify your suspension AT ALL in this state. the book talks about only OEM... from bushings to shocks.

i have a proposition i am writting up. the laws are worried about cut spring ghetto rides being unsafe... AND to cut down on "street racers." I have a way to produce the cash the state needs AND keep the ghetto rigs off the road. sure it will cost you money to get... but it should keep them (police) off your back.

civic hatch and a guy with a mustache? That's all I needed to see, bring him in.

BLINGMW Wrote:civic hatch and a guy with a mustache?

I think its actually illegal to drive that car while having such a sweet mustache. I assume police officers love mustaches, so he probably saw that as an insult to the mustache community.

My favorite:

"Well, my hood latch won't open."

"Well, I see there that the cable is exposed, and there is a wrench (looked like pliers to me) by your left foot. Perhaps you could try to open the hood with the pliers?"

Ok, so wait. He's going to cite him for an adjustable cam gear and 'blue hose' and not for the blatent safety concern of having something metal and reasonably heavy by the feet of the driver?

Although, FYI, modifying base timing of any kind is illegal by california law. But if he'd had his pulley cover on...

Anyway, blatent propoganda. "You can help us reduce the number of casualties from this dangerous street racing activity."
