General Auto-X events in DC Metro - Andy - 03-13-2006

DC SCCA is putting this one on and from my experience, they fill up within the first day ofo registration which is the 19th. I'm going to go just cause it's close and speeding through FedEx is fun.

I love the Fedex ones. They are long-ass courses. I wont be able to make this one, 90-percent sure.

don't worry about it, registration fills up within hours.

It filled up before the hour was out.

last time i tried (i did get in b/c i waited until the actual time of registration) it filled up in 14 minutes Confusedhock:

i have to say though it was an awesome course. elevation changes, off-cambers, fast sections (read: 3rd gear), and very well organized (300 cars and very organized).

Most people i talk to around the DC area they just purchase the season pass for auto-xing for $300 and they don't have to worry about registration with a guaranteed spot at each event. Depending on the car situation i might be thinking of doing that next year.

Alright, I just registered for the Auto-IncÔÇÖs April 15th event at Cal Ripken Stadium and Mazda ClubÔÇÖs April 23rd event Rosecroft, just in case any of you guys wanted to go.

They still run events at Rosecroft Confusedhock: I hope you don't like your paint.

I don't like my paint but I would like to slow down's its downward trajectory. What's wrong with Rosecroft?

well, when I was there 2 years ago the lot was torn to hell, big chunks of asphalt. Main reason why SCCA stopped running there. I went 2 times and I'll never go back unless they fix that lot, and given the state of horse racing in MD I can't imagine they've fixed it up much. I don't live far from Rosecroft, if you still go I'll try and swing by and check it out. The ripkin date is tempting.

Agreed, it was horrible, you were basically driving on gravel.

- Mike - 03-23-2006

i swung by rosecroft last season to watch an autox... they patched a couple spots (i think) and were able to avoid the really gravelly (sp?) sections.

- ButtDyno - 03-23-2006

Yeah it's damn near impossible to put together a good course on Rosecroft. We were really close last year (CR event, 2005) but we ended up getting a bit too paranoid about speed, and slowing it down too much. 3-4 adjustments and it would have been a good course.

But I'd take the Miata there, coz I don't care at all about the paint.
