The latest race- bred 911 sports coupe features a 415-horsepower naturally aspirated engine with an 8,400 rpm redline, an active suspension setup tuned for the track, and a mechanical limited-slip differential.

I agree. I think its all the vents and scoops on the 997

btw, the 997 GT3 racecar has been out for a few months now. Several raced in the 24 hr of Daytona

20 somethings aren't buying them, old men with pensions are. What do you want to be driving at that age?

A 911 GT3. Without fru-fru navigation, 37 speaker stereo, touch-screen HVAC controls and cupholders.

If you want all of that crap, then dont buy the baddest of the bad porsche. JMHO.

The GT3 is not made for old men with vaginas, its made for someone who cares about performance first. Let them buy a regular 911 if they want luxo crap on it.

You didn't see Ferrari putting power seats and a navigation system in the 360 Challenge Stradale did you?

it isn't? I think Porsche knows its cutomers best. If even the GT3 comes with a nav system and other such "fluff" then, well like I said, they know who has the money to afford these things. Oops! And I didn't even have to look to know.... of course, it has crossdrilled rotors as well.

If the buyer was truely hardcore, he'd buy a Ferrari. Or, like RJ said, an older Porsche. But who are we kidding, most of these cars are destined for the street anyway. :?

do you know what the gt3 is supposed to be? basically a race car straight from the factory.

What does Lotus Exige have? Does it have all this extra crap? I don't think it does...

:?: that is our point that you failed to see. now you're trying to make a point with our point? no shit the exige doesn't have bells and whistles, it is a freaking race-bred car.

- Maengelito - 02-26-2006

although i agree with the fact that the new GT3 should not have all the luxo stuff, i think that half the buyers want a pure bred race car, while the other half wants the top of the line porsche to drive on sundays around town. i'm sure many ferrari drivers are not race car drivers, in fact i see very few ferraris at the track as opposed to on the street. i'm sure most of them sit at home polishing them in the garage. thats probably the segment that all this luxo stuff is marketed towards
