I was driving into Allsports to work this morning and apparently the douchebag in front of me decided that he liked my lane more than his. Granted I'm driving a white vehicle while it's snowing out, but one would think you can't miss a big ol SUV when you're one of all of 4 vehicles within sight. Well this driver didn't see me and started to change lanes. Having the choice of getting hit by him and pushed off into the slush and possibly loosing control or trying to change lanes suddenly I opted for the unknown and tried to change lanes. I hit the slush and it immediately sent me sideways right towards the concrete divider at the entrance of the exit ramp. Again I've got two choices, take a full T-Bone in the drivers door from a concrete divider, or give the 4Runner some gas, try to clear the divider and who knows maybe recover before the rather deep ditch on the other side of the exit ramp. Gas it is, unfortunately recovery it wasn't, and into the ditch I went.

It was a rather hard hit, but the engine was still running and the snow around my engine wasn't now green or black, so I popped it into 4WD and rocked myself out of the ditch and continued onto work. If I didn't have the brush guard on the front of the truck you can guarantee that it'd be sitting in the ditch right now with a cracked radiator. Don't think anything mechanical is wrong with it, but it'll have to wait till it's a lil warmer and I'm willing to give it a good look.

damn. that sucks matt. did the dipshit who came in on you stop? are you going to report it to insurance to get it fixed?

- Hunter - 02-12-2006

It looks like your car held up reasonably well, especially since it didnt bust open anything around the radiator. I hope that guy stopped, but I get the feeling that it's fairly unlikely.

sorry to hear, but it looks like it could have been much worse. maybe an excuse to get rid of that pile? Wink

That really sucks man, but look at the bright side, at least it wasn't the concrete barrier.

I would've let the fucker hit me

damn right, let his insurance pay for it

- ScottyB - 02-12-2006

sorry to hear this man. it seems like both you and Top Gear have proven toyota trucks cannot die

hope things work out ok with the repairs

- Dragon - 02-12-2006

Yup should have just let the fucker hit me, but you know, natural instinct is to try and avoid it, so that's what I did. Nope didn't get his license plate, but wouldn't do me any good if I had because can't really press charges against that sort of thing. Nope not gonna claim it on insurance, the truck drives fine, so I'm just gonna bend it back right and call it a shitty event.

same here

did you use your horn?

i've been in similar situations and i have layed on the horn at these people

Sorry to hear about the shitty situation though Sad . I hope everything turns out ok and looks like the truck held up well.

- Chris - 02-13-2006

sorry to hear matt! glad you're ok.

- Maengelito - 02-13-2006

glad to hear you're alright man... its a truck though, the brushgaurd should've gone through that MFer's skull. the best part is that it would've been his fault too.
