FREE TRACK DAY @ V.I.R.! - derilict - 02-12-2006 Two (2) FREE sessions for you and your bike at VIR in March! I can't believe it. Wish I could go, hope someone takes advantage of this. http://www.nesba.com/info/intro.aspx - G.Irish - 02-12-2006 What date should we all sign up for? I don't even have my bike yet so I'd want to wait till June or July. July is the earliest that VIR opens up again. SP is a lot closer of course but I'd much prefer VIR. - Feersty - 02-12-2006 Good find Derek. Can't wait to see you fools on bikes on track. - JohnC - 02-12-2006 I'm definitely in for VIR. Lets coordinate and then get on this. - G.Irish - 02-12-2006 We could do VIR South on July 8-9 or VIR North on July 10th (Monday). There's also VIR Full on July 21st and Patriot Course on July 22nd. - .RJ - 02-12-2006 July 8-9 is hyperfest weekend so that wont work. The 21st may work, but the following weekend is vir-north with NASA as well. What is required for this? Do you need full track gear? - racecontrol - 02-13-2006 If I remember correctly, leathers are not required for this unless you decide to pay for the remaining sessions. Of course, unless you want to risk ending up like the girl in the "high speed bike crash" post you might want to get some. - Maengelito - 02-13-2006 i wish i had a bike so i could do this. on a sorta related note, we get all these safety bulletins at work and we've been getting a lot of stuff recently talking about soldiers coming back from iraq/afghanistan and dying within the first month on a motorcycle. the reasoning is that you get a shit ton of guys who come back from a war zone and wanting adrenaline rushes who happen to have a year or two's worth of tax free income along with additional hazard/danger pay so they go out and get very fast sport bikes. they are thinking of making it mandatory for all army personnel who ride a bike to prove that they have taken a safety course which i think this would be excellent for. i guess what i'm tryin to say is be careful out there fools - Mike - 02-13-2006 not surprising at all. have any stats you can share? - Maengelito - 02-13-2006 i dont remember specifically any numbers, but it said the trend has been going up drastically since soldiers have been returning from their tours. - Feersty - 02-14-2006 Mike Wrote:not surprising at all. have any stats you can share? I have heard the same, and if I remember correctly it is like a couple hundred returning soldiers that have been killed across the U.S from motorcycle accidents. Or maybe that is injuries and deaths, but it is bad. - G.Irish - 02-14-2006 http://www.nbc10.com/health/6781320/detail.html I saw this about a week or so ago. Not really surprising or alarming to me. Riding sport bikes like an idiot is always a recipe for disaster. Don't know what percentage of those guys have taken the MSF or done track days but I'm sure its not the majority. I said on the Speed forum that this would be a great opportunity to get some new recruits to track days. - Mike - 02-14-2006 G.Irish Wrote:I said on the Speed forum that this would be a great opportunity to get some new recruits to track days. pun intended? - G.Irish - 02-21-2006 Well let's roll on this fools. July 21st, VIR, with NESBA.----WAIT That's Moto GP weekend. Ok, more investigation required... - G.Irish - 02-21-2006 It looks like all of the VIR dates until late in the season conflict with something, how about Slummit or Beaverun? - Dragon - 02-22-2006 Slummit could work. |
