Pricing on the new 2005 Legacy GT (turbo) has been announced

For those unfamiliar with the car:
New, redesigned Legacy
300 lbs lighter than outgoing model (~3000 lb)
2.5L 250hp turbocharged engine (same longblock as STi)

I was reading about those in "Japanese Performance", a mag out of the UK. The legacy turbo is something Japan has enjoyed for years, but it looks like Subaru is just going balls out, and may have Audi solidly in it's sights.
I mean, SHIT. Why would you buy an A4, when you have this?
And then with that new Saab....Subaru is a name we'll hear for a while, I think...

. For a new car with those specs the price isnt bad either. Im with mike on buying used though with 26k you could make a diff used car much faster, but it sure wont have that "new" feeling about the car.

yeah, im a big A4 fan but the new ones are bloated sacks of luxury, not the sports sedan it used to be. the new suby would definitely be my pick, not just for performance, but value and reliability over the A4.

meh, depends on the deal you can get on an A4. if you can find one cheap enough, you can b00st it to be faster than an S4 for less than the cost of an S4, plus you get lighter weight and better weight distribution. buuuuut of course then you have more turbo lag, so its kind of a tradeoff. no replacement for displacement except more b00st! :wink:

I like the notion that a S4 has a V8 and 340 hp. By the way that new Legacy GT looks heavy and possibly slow.

shit, my IV weights 3200 and gets up on its way purty good. <y b00sted pile (mkIII) weighs 3800, but you would never know it when the turbo spools up. You need a ride in a good heavy turbo car before you may talk anymore Feersty ;-). Maeng, I think a ride is in order for the weekend if at all possible.

dave kept asking me "can i get a taste of boost this weekend, can i get a taste of boost this weekend?" and i wasnt sure when i could give it to him, so i sent him off in one of RJ's sessions on the autox course. well, you read that other thread, so you know how it turned out. and my car is a tad bit over 250 hp (300 actually) but its also 3300 lbs. and it pulls in every gear...

There will be many turbocharged cars at the show. If mine is too fast (haha), Liam might let you ride his Evo8. He put down 270+ awd horsepower.
And 3,000 lbs is nothing. Ask Ryan what a Ls1 Camaro or Firebird weighs, before the driver gets into the car.
