Info and opinion on Dale Engineering (split from ET opinion) - Jeff - 02-06-2006

I know there are several people on here who have done business with Dale Engineering. I have a few things I need done and I don't have more then about $500 to spend on it. This is what I want done at least...

Head-
Cleaned
Pressure tested
plained if need be
3-angle valvegrind to accept my new valves

Block-
Cleaned

This is all pretty simple stuff. Would I be better served to go to another place or is Dale Eng. fine with doing the small stuff? Also do you think it would be a good idea to have them port the head or is it a waste when a friend will do it for free? (he owes me on a favor) He has already done my exhaust manifold and it looks great, he was trained for high performance engine when he was at school. Opinion ideas and other suggestions would be great! Any other good placed to go? I need to know about this fairly soon.

Send it to dale - they are very reasonable with price and do very good work.

Dale gets a thumbs up from me. I don't know what their prices are, but they are usually very reasonable from what I know. Talk to Pete, he had them do a lot of work for him on his engine build, IIRC.

FWIW, the Toyota dealership ships all of our machine work out to Dale.

just buy a dremel tool and a few cans of engine degreaser

the head is actually clean. I took some industrial degreaser and some brake clean to it. I just want the last little bit blasted out... I was gonna try to get them to do it real quick for free. The guy that says he will do the port has done a few. All I ask is a gasket match anyway, I'm not even doing anything on the intake side.

I called Dale Engineering up about the various work I need. The head with a "performance type valve job" for $180ish cleaned and pressure tested. The block honed and cleaned for around $65. Not too bad. I'm still gonna check with Napa of Winchester when I get a chance.
