2006 Rolex 24 Hour Race in Daytona - Eclipsor - 01-30-2006 Race Stats - time of race: 24:0:40.031, distance: 734 laps ÔÇô 2,613.04 miles, average speed: 108.826 mph, victory margin: one lap. I went down to Daytona Beach, FL this past weekend to see the Rolex 24 hour race and had a damn good time. I will post a more extensive write-up at a later date, but here are some pics in the mean time. http://sixtyfoot.com/ipw-web/gallery/rolex?page=1 I sat next to a driver on the plane trip back. His name was Kelly Collins and he was a driver for Pontiac. He started out racing motorcycles, then eventually became a factory driver for Chevrolet and won the American Le Mans beside two big names that have slipped my mind. He then moved to BMW and finally to Pontiac. He was absolutely beat so i didn't ask him as many things as i would have liked. I hadn't heard of him, but evidently he's got some skills... http://www.corvettemuseum.com/specs/2004/bios.shtml Here are a few samples... D'oh!Hell yeah, it was definitely worth it. Even with the whole plane-being-delayed-for-three-hours-while-the-mechanic-worked-on-it-thing. Indeed, that Red Bull car had some bad luck there. Flat tires suck. |
