33 west is the devil.... - junooni - 01-28-2006

hey guys ..just be carefull if u goo out to play on 33 west....on the way there we saw someone reck a bike by sliding under a car and then our luck went bad too as three if us also slid down on those stupid turns....so just take it easy up there....

- ScottyB - 01-28-2006

was there gravel down on the turns?

if not....maybe you guys should take it down a notch or three. i'm glad you're ok, but i think you all got very lucky. 33 is no joke (i had a friend go down on that road too, almost slid off a cliff), and there is always a fair amount of traffic on that road.

is the guy that slid under the car doing alright?

- WRXtranceformed - 01-28-2006

It sounds like you guys need to slow down and ride more carefully.

- junooni - 01-28-2006

dude we were at a resonable speed...it was like sand n gravel on the side that messed everyone up....

- junooni - 01-28-2006

i meant mud...not sand...and i donot know how tha guy is doing who slid under the car..the cop just told us tha it wasn't good...he was drag racing or somthin on the straight

- Nis01 - 01-28-2006

Glad you guys are okay. Hope everything works out alright. Sad

- junooni - 01-28-2006

How did everyone's gear hold up? Did everyone go down in the same turn or something? What were the road conditions, was the approach to the turn(s) blind?

- scottcj - 01-29-2006

Han your gear held up amazingly well. Most everyone's gear was okay. Mike was wearing plain jeans and his knee was just torn through. Mike and Tyler went out in the same turn doing below 40 or 35 mph. Han went down a couple turns up. Just a crapload of gravel and mud on the road.

- ScottyB - 01-29-2006

man that sucks....was it near the east or west side of the twisties? just curious, i know that section pretty well and i'm trying to visualize the turn that this happened on.

- .RJ - 01-29-2006

Remember guys, even though the weather is warm here and there, its still winter and there is tons of crap all over the roads - I wouldnt push it until the weather warms up in the springtime.

- Ross.Church - 01-29-2006

Thats scary. How messed up are the bikes? Hope the Repsol is okay.

I was heading out there yesterday to do some leisurely riding but I got a call and had to turn back before I actually got into the mountains. I saw some of you guys on the way back and I thought it was strange that the bikes looked so dusty/muddy.

- Nick325is - 01-29-2006

Glad everyone is doing alright. Definitly a lesson learned about wearing leathers though.

That was funny because I noticed you and it's a little weird seeing my old bike riding around again. Hope it's still good to you. Smile

A couple of companies are now making riding jeans that have kevlar or steel mesh materials in the knee and buttOX areas to prevent road rash. I think Teknic, Joe Rocket, and Icon make em now. I like the idea a lot but they don't really protect against impact so if you whack your knee on the ground its still gonna hurt, u just won't lose any skin/flesh.

- junooni - 01-29-2006

Han went and got the bikes today...he also took some pics of the damge done to the bikes....its on the same link posted b4 by me....

- Feersty - 01-29-2006

Damn I just saw Tyler walking out of Ned Devine's on Friday night.

Be safe guys!

- Han - 02-01-2006
