New Forum Section? - JackoliciousLegs - 04-14-2004 Because I saw a merkur on the road for the first time, i thought to myself, "self, why doesn't MM have a forum dedicated to car information? It would be in the main forum, searchable (obviously), and hopefully correct." So there it is. Should we add a forum for car info where people would post info about cars and their specifications? - ScottyB - 04-14-2004 i would love something like that.....if it wasnt for the fact that anybody could look up what our cars have, then promptly break into them
- JackoliciousLegs - 04-14-2004 No, not about our personal cars. About cars in general. Example: Thread title: "1986-1991 Mazda RX-7 (FC3S)" and the thread would have info like http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=249616 and 0-60 times.... blah blah blah.... I'm not tryin to let you know what I'm runnin yo! That's how I win my slips. - ScottyB - 04-14-2004 ah, my bad, i read "their specifications" as in, the specifications of their cars. its 2 am and im getting retarded. i like the idea jack! we're a group of car junkies after all, so a forum dedicated to nothing but talking about models/types of cars is a nice addition. - Mike - 04-14-2004 no, thats what the lounge is for. more != better. if you need to find car specs search on google. - Dave - 04-14-2004 uh, i think i made a thread in the suggestions forum about this very thing. This way, people can put up thier opinions on a car based on thier experiences so that others can get an idea of how they may like it. - BLINGMW - 04-14-2004 yeah, but we don't like you Dave. - JackoliciousLegs - 04-14-2004 yes dave, i think it's a good idea, and i think it would be nice to have a searchable database with specs and if .RJ likes it or not... - .RJ - 04-14-2004 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:searchable database with specs - Evan - 04-14-2004 .RJ Wrote:google - Ryan T - 04-14-2004 Evan Wrote:.RJ Wrote:google - Dave - 04-14-2004 alright, this isn't quite the idea that I had. My idea was more of an evaluation forum. This way, you can post up a car that you test drove and leave a reveiw for others to input thier thoughts or read later for education. Let's say I drive an EP3 and I like it. I can post a thread about things that I liked and disliked about it and how it performed when I had it. Then, anybody else that has driven one (and owners too) can post up thier thoughts on it and things they have noticed. This way, we can get a database of the different cars that we have driven and input from real people and extended knowledge at the tip of our fingers, NOT stats. I have no problem Googling for specs, but when I'm considering a car purchase, I want to be able to talk to people who have owned a particular car and find out what they think about it, whithout having to join 13 different forums and ask questions there. This will put that kind of info at our fingertips without having to actually go through a lot of trouble. - Mike - 04-14-2004 i don't understand why "how is this car?" can't be asked in the lounge. - ScottyB - 04-14-2004 it will give us something to replace the appearance forum with  - Mike - 04-14-2004 ScottyB Wrote:it will give us something to replace the appearance forum with  the appearance forum has new life today. fuck yo couch! - Feersty - 04-14-2004 Does anyone want to know about a Buick Century? I for example am interested in the Grand National. - Mike - 04-14-2004 Feersty Wrote:Does anyone want to know about a Buick Century? I for example am interested in the Grand National. I know they're both Buicks, but as far as I know a Grand National has nothing to do with a Century. Oh yeah, and Google. - ScottyB - 04-14-2004 "MichaelJComputer Wrote:but as far as I know a Grand National has nothing to do with a Century you are correct sir. they are totally different animals. - Ryan T - 04-14-2004 Feersty Wrote:Does anyone want to know about a Buick Century? I for example am interested in the Grand National. Buick Grand National Made off of the Buick Regal platform 3.8L turbocharged 6-cylinder engine They were rated at 275hp, but that was a bit of an underrating. Stock they run around mid-high 13's depending on the year. With very very little mods they run 11's and 12's easy. See, no new forum really required for that. There is Robs info and it fits just fine into the lounge.
- JackoliciousLegs - 04-15-2004 I'm not saying just about our cars. Gerald test drove an rx8 this past summer and wrote about it. I just thought it'd be cool to put all car reviews. Maybe we could publish our thoughts eventually. It'd be cool. |
