13, impressive... this is the greatest website of all time

- Kaan - 04-07-2004

congradulations to all... and i dont want to take away from the democratic process in MM... but why do we have this retarded loser of prez going to VP... and VP candidates that arent going to win anyway thing going on? i mean come on... it doesnt make any sence... someone explain it to me... my little republican brain doesnt get it.

- Mike - 04-07-2004

Because we had 2 VPs this past year. if we didn't have the trickle either a) one of them would not be an officer or b) one of them would not be able to progress through the ranks.

In regards to you saying "why have candidates for vp that couldn't win," i'm thoroughly confused, everyone was an option on the ballot, for example:

President:
Chris Procopio
Huntyer Brown

VP:
Chris Procopio
Hunter Brown
Ryan Thayer
Travis Miller

This way everyone was an option and if someone liked both presidential candidates they could rank them by voting for their top choice at pres and 2nd as vp. I actually kind of like the idea since both positions are so similar and i'd really hate to see someone good lose an officer position because they "risked" running for president; we will discuss keeping this format in the future.

- Evan - 04-07-2004

Its not a bad idea, it just doesnt work as well when there are only 2 President candidates. Theoretically someone could run for president, get zero votes, and get a VP spot over someone who barely lost the VP spot by a vote or 2. The risk of this decreases as the voting pool grows and the ballot fills out.
Just food for thought, overall I think its ok.
I think the modified version that Mike just posted where a pres candidate could trickle but only if he beats out the other VP candidates would be even better

Evan Wrote:I think the modified version that Mike just posted where a pres candidate could trickle but only if he beats out the other VP candidates would be even better

That is what we did. Basically people running for President were also on the ballot for VP, not really a trickle as we have done in the past.

- Kaan - 04-07-2004

ok well what i saw is a trickle down... because we do not have two VPs... we have the "loser" of the presidential "race" as the VP... so what you are saying is... hunter (not to spite anyone at all) got more votes to be a VP then the VP candidates themselves?

EDIT: to those who did not get into a possition... dont give up on the club... know that your opinion still counts and you have years left to help lead us.

- Feersty - 04-07-2004

Uh one year. They don't like domestiks. Myself, Thayer, and Chris Reed lost. hmmmmm

- Kaan - 04-07-2004

i wont issue out a statement of who i voted for but i did vote domestik on some issues

precisely.

- Maengelito - 04-07-2004

when i sent in my votes, i was under the impression that it did not work this way. i do like this format, but i guess it wasnt clear to me before now.
