Black Friday - .RJ - 11-25-2005

Who else besides me and chad were dumb enough to sit outside in sub-20 deg weather to save a few bucks?

I picked up a 200 gig HD ($30) and enclosure ($20) from comp usa at midnight... then on to best buy at 4am (they opened at 5) to pick up a pair of sirius receivers... stopped at linens n things for an $11 foreman grill on the way home.

I dont think I'll do this shit again next year if its this cold.

- ScottyB - 11-25-2005

none of that for me this year. the way things have been looking this morning i don't think i'd even get a parking space.

- Ginger - 11-25-2005

RJ, you're certifiably nuts.

- .RJ - 11-25-2005

Unbelieveable.

Thank God I am working today, didn't have to deal with that jackassery. Commute was all smooth sailingSmile

From another forum:

Quote:Just thought Ide vent here about how crazy the average american shopper is including myself. My god I went to best buy at 3 Am today for one of those 379$ laptops and god they were already sold out of EVERYTHING that was on sale. they dont open till FIVE. damn I was pissed, so then I did the most idiotic thing in the world and went too Walmart. THey had cops there already that early and people were fighting two cars got into the wreck and I saw two housewives pulling each others hair over some damn Power Rangers or some crap Ticket so they could purchase the damn thing. It was Nutts. So How did everyone elses experience go on Black Friday? its Five am now by the way and I gotta leave for work in an hour lol, damn todays gonna suck.

- REED - 11-25-2005

my younger brother and his friend were at Bestbuy around 2 this morning in line to get those $149 computers, they are putting them on ebay, trying to make a quick buck - I told him it was a stupid idea, but worse comes to worse he can just return it

- Mike - 11-25-2005

i used to do that shit... it really is chaotic, but fun in a way. everyone should do it once.

- Evan - 11-25-2005

4am? damn dude. thats retarded.

That $379 laptop was a killer deal though, I would have been tempted to try for one of those if I just hadnt bought one.

- navin - 11-26-2005

I should have gone, didnt get to sleep until 6 am anyway...

- Sijray21 - 11-26-2005

those laptops weren't really that cheap, you had to add on a subscription to AOL to recieve the MIR or Instant rebate to get it to that price. Granted that's only $20/mo for a year or two, but that's another $240 onto the price.

the only thing i wanted was a turn table and stereo for my mom, but i found cheaper stuff online and i'll order it later. The ipod nano i wanted doesn't go on sale so i'll just buy that later.

edit:
oh yeah, i forgot to mention that i went to Tysons I at around 9:30. After about 30 minutes of driving around i found a parking space. I left after buying a belt (first one in about 6 years). As i left my parking space arguments from drivers began as i left, there was a verbal argument, then i thought some guy was going to get run over....consumerism and laziness should not be combined....people will get killed in parking lots.

- Mike - 11-26-2005

your mom wanted a turn table? also, unless you really need the size of a nano for some odd reason i'd recommend the new regular ipod over it.

That was only true at CC and Office Depot (or CompUSA, I don't remember). BestBuy and Wal*Mart there were no AOL required. So yea, it was that cheap, oh and AOL is 24.99/yr now.

I was in line at 1:30am at BB and there were 50 people in front of me, fuckers sold out of all (19) laptops they had about 1/2 though the line at 4am so I left (they were giving out tickets that were good until 11am).

lol I worked balck friday in the install bay at cc in tysons. It was nuts parking spaces. People were parking in front of our bays so we had to shove them out and everything, it was hell. Oh well at least I worked in the install bay and that is fun as hell compared to being a salesperson. Didnt have to deal with any idiots.

yeah im a little tired from a 12 hour install bay day...It was fucking nuts to try to find paking spaces even for workers! People even started parking in front of our bays and we had o direct them away so we could actually get cars in...

- Jeff - 11-29-2005

I know I am late to the game on this one. But I thought I would share. The Harrisonburg CC sold $400,000 by the time I got there at 4pm (or so I heard). The store was wall to wall. I got in there and was installing non-stop. I-pods we are regular price...but were sold out by 11am. People are stupid. On a side note, my car got slammed by a lady in a Exploder.
