So what are you folks up to this winter? Prepping for next year's race season? Conducting perfectly legitimate business transactions in order to fund more b00st? Trying desperately to bury another dead hooker in the crawlspace?
I need to fix the Z. Get it started again, find out why it hesitates so badly, and fix it. Then, maybe sell it, and use those funds to buy a prepped E30 racecar. Or an NSX so I can rule H1
Or keep it and put a bit more $$$ into coilovers and brakes so that it can put all that power to use on the track.The Lightning needs a lot of love (as usual). Front suspension, tie-rod ends, steering box, etc... Shocks all around (maybe something nice for towing). I'd also like to go ahead and put a real hitch receiver on it, and a brake controller. Need to fix the A/C too, but its hard to get motivated about it when the temperature is below 75.
The WRX needs a good cleanup, a little bodywork (thank you, mailbox), and pending funds availability, a rear swaybar/endlinks and maybe something in the power department. Unlikely though, considering the busted nature of the other vehicles...
The bike gets left the hell alone.
The Gravely (my lawn mower) gets a complete rebuild. I've got the parts, just haven't the time to clean up the block and install everything. This might also be my excuse to buy a parts washer and some precision measuring tools. I'd really just like to take the entire thing apart, clean it all up and remove the rust spots, and repaint it bright red

Gut interior, install full cage, tow hooks, fire system, new wing, maybe some new paint in places, basically get ready for comp school in Feb if at all possible.

Ah....... here we go.
The Garage: Build a work bench, get an air compressor and some air tools, and get that set up. Put a vice and grinder on the work bench. Mom is buying me a nice toolbox (one of the big ones) for christmas.
The Bike: I'm replacing the rear tire and clutch next week - so over the winter I'll be rebuilding the front forks and I may be replacing the sprockets and chains.
The Integra: Strip the rest of the interior, gut sound deadening, Finish the cage and paint, window net, install kill switch, hood pins, tow hooks, build front splitter, remove a/c, re-align and corner weight..... rebuild my spare axles (3), calipers (2 pair), and whatever other spares I've got. I'll also be pulling the cylinder head off the current motor and refreshing it (milled, valve job, port match). Reinstall OPM diff in trans after I get it back from the rebuild. Polish/wax/apply vinyl.
The Miata: Clean it up and sell it . Buy another integra for rainy/cold days that I dont want to ride the bike in.

Racecar miata: standard yearly replacement of all fluids and oils. Get some used calipers and rebuild them. Rebuild spare clutch slave cyl. Paint floorpans. Install 2nd exhuast, fix exhaust leak, figure out why there is oil in the coolant
probably 100 other things that come up as i discover them. racecars are like that
90 miata. let it sit in the driveway. sell it in the spring

Convert to '91 turbo brakes. Pray that TRD can get me my swaybars before the first snow. Auto-X until the car explodes.
Clean up spare cylinder head and replace valve stem seals. Find someone that can rebuild my spare trans or show me how. My gf's cousin who's studying to be a racecar technician, is visiting during Thanksgiving and so hopefully she can replace the synchros for me.
Last but not least:
Try my best to not ball up my car during the snowy days.

this man speaks the truth. Jay bought some for his civic, and i swear it was utterly unstoppable in the snow, and it wasn't just because it was FWD. as long as you plan to stay in VA you'll get some use out of them. plus, seeing as how your car is MR and RWD, it would add to the safety of driving it (kind of an investment).
i was in Jay's car with kumho's when it was snowing and it was a twitchy, lockin-dem-shits-up fun 'o rama.

The MCSS:
Installing a crosspipe exhaust with these new dynomax mufflers I've got. Probably gonna put in test-pipes too.
Install new jets in the carbuerator. Possibly start gearing up and collecting components for a blow through charger...those are real nice ;x
Possibly swap the cam out, machine the valve seats and put higher lift valve springs in to accomodate said cam.
New brakes. Want to cut the springs on the front to give it a nose-down stance...but I havent quite decided what all I wanna do with the suspension on that car yet.
Blazer: Sell it maybe. It's starting to need paint. I have thouhgt about stripping it and selling it myself..but my luck would be that I get balls deep in that and it'd snow 8" and it'd be in the booth or something..so, not sure yet.

this winter will be alot tamer than i thought. i had quite a few plans for the audi but i've come to the conclusion i'm under-tooled, over-budget and i've had to deal with a few unforeseen issues i hadn't planned on dealing with til after winter.
Jen's explorer doesnt get touched. i hate it anyway.
maintainance:
- within the next month i'll be getting the clutch replaced. so there goes most of my budget on a new, stock clutch/flywheel.
- may have to deal with lifter replacements. my stockers sound like a bucket of ass, despite my onslaught of seafoam.
- new tires before x-mas. i'll be posting a thread about recommendations soon.
- i haven't had to deal with any typical German nickel/dime stuff yet so i hope that holds off for a while!
fun stuff:
- A8 brake upgrade. cheap, and will be great for auto-x and HPDE when i start that next summer.
- 10mm spacers for the stock wheels to clear the A8 brakes
- boost gauge. kind of a no-brainer
- pedal set, or at least a throttle pedal. i can't heel/toe well with the stock peice
- Tyrolsport SMIC. if i plan on running any motorsports event with consistancy i need to upgrade from the stock peice ASAP.

i have nothing compared to you guys, but i plan on getting upper/lower intake ported and polished and doing a 5.0L TB swap. the winter determines what comes after that. if she holds up i might start gathering parts for a supercharger install. a paint job would be nice sometime also.
