1978 Datsun 280Z for sale - karioth - 10-14-2005 Whats up guys, I am moving back to DC soon (graduating) and I need to sell my 280Z. Here is the run down: - 6 New GPSorenson Fuel Injectors - Newish Battery - 80% Tread left on Michelin Tires - NGK Plugs - NGK Wires - New distributor cap - New distributor rotor - New thermostat and battery cable wiring - Cold Air Intake - Intake System cleaned (intake ports, throttle body etc.) - New Rotors - New Brake Hoses - New Brake Booster - New Brake Master Cylinder - 1 New caliper - New Clutch Master Cylinder - New Clutch Slave Cylinder - New Swaybar Links - Memphis Audio Speakers - Motor has been flushed (Using GUNK Motorflush, 3 cycles) - New gear oil - Current state inspection As you can see I put a LOT of work into it. Here is the bad: - Shock/struts either out or on way out. Ride is still amply stiff though. - Car has writing on it (you may not mind this, it's all in good taste) - Body kinda sucks, some rust spots - Minor oil leak, seems to only leak during longer trips - Climate control does not work, A/C compressor cut out by last owner, heat on fritz (although it is not the heater core, probably the vent assembly) - Brake pads are glazed so they need to be replaced, I would reccommend some Hawks or EBC Green stuffs. If you have any questions or want to come see it let me know via email at "karioth@ellicit.org". I have documentation for most of the repairs/upgrades. Asking price is $1800 negotiable. If interested let me know ASAP though as it goes on eBay next week. - Mike - 10-14-2005 pics? way hot. - ViPER1313 - 10-14-2005 I have seen your car around campus - its the one w/ the primered rear quarter panel, right?? - CaptainHenreh - 10-15-2005 Dave! Buy! Now! - Dave - 10-15-2005 i don't need 5 cars - Sijray21 - 10-15-2005 Dave Wrote:i don't need 5 cars supra, dsm, 240, 240....a datsun would fit in fine! - Myuki - 10-15-2005 how much are you looking for? and pics please. - ScottyB - 10-15-2005 Myuki Wrote:how much are you looking for? karioth Wrote:Asking price is $1800 negotiable. Yes, the last owner started to restore and quickly gave up hehe, there are pics on my webshots: http://community.webshots.com/album/88338607kxyZej These pics were before people decorated it . If you buy this you would want to paint it, unless your going for the sleeper look. The car runs good, engine performs like a Z should. Tranny is a 4 speed manual. if no one buys it here i'll put it up on ebay.- Raleigh - Myuki - 10-15-2005 ScottyB Wrote:how'd i miss that???Myuki Wrote:how much are you looking for? So, does it still ride rough like it did last semester, or did you take care of that? I can't remember what it was, so if it's on the list and I'm being stupid, I'm sorry. - CaptainHenreh - 10-15-2005 There is nothing wrong with this car that a threefiddy wouldn't fix. Someone jump on it! - karioth - 10-16-2005 Myuki Wrote:ScottyB Wrote:how'd i miss that???Myuki Wrote:how much are you looking for? When I first got it the front end was bouncy. I found out that the swaybar links were broken and replacing these fixed that problem. It's my daily driver so I don't think the ride is too harsh, but remember, it is 27 years old

The engine in the car is fine though, if you look online this is a nearly legendary motor for it's endurance. I've read forums with people that have over 300k miles on the original engine. The bottom end is built the same way as the turbo version, I believe the only difference is in the piston heads. Anyways I personally think an SR20 swap would be better, I imagine the 350 makes the car extremely front heavy. - .RJ - 10-16-2005 karioth Wrote:I imagine the 350 makes the car extremely front heavy. Not a LS1
- Feersty - 10-17-2005 It's Blue! - karioth - 10-17-2005 Feersty Wrote:It's Blue! when its wet or it's dark. Not sure why but in sunlight it turns a purplish color. I don't know if the paint does that intentionally or if its oxidized? - Jeff - 10-17-2005 Saw the car today. My room-mate asks "is that guy in the car club." It was so random and when I looked to see who he was talking about this blue Datsun goes flyin by. It is nice looking, someone buy it. - Goodspeed - 10-18-2005 DAMMIT!!!! If I wasn't a freshman, with no need/place for a car, i'd buy it right now. A 240/260/280Z (anything with that body style) is my dream car...and I don't see these up for sale often around here..or anywhere..ever...for that price...thats not a shell. Can you, uhh...hold on to it for another year so I can buy it later? hehehe......no i'm dead serious hock:

They know I love these cars...I always thought they were cool but a recent sighting of one at the Verona autocross sealed the deal for me... ![]() Hell I'd park it on the side of my hall and sit next to it with a rusty blunt weapon all day if I had to. |
