Wow....what a frankenstein! Crazy idea, look how crammed it looks in that engine bay.

A built 2.5L racing block and a big snail would be fine for me! =p

hehe, yeah that's a guy with alot of time on his hands too. and no more AWD i think, which might be ok from a handling standpoint. i'd miss it in a WRX though.

- WRXtranceformed - 10-11-2005

Definitely. RWD comversion seems silly, wouldn't be a suby anymore. I know a few people who have done it though, and I saw the world's first competitive RWD drift WRX on a magazine cover the other day... haha.

i saw it too and was like "OMG, they got a Suby to drift that well?" then read it was an RWD conversion and was like, "oh, nevermind, it's not really a Subaru anymore" lol

and what's wrong with 2.0L's?

I saw that today...... I think the kid building it is a certifiable asshat. If he ever goes get that thing running its going to be completely undriveable.

- Nis01 - 10-12-2005

Whatever makes you happy... I guess...

Seems like a lot of work for a not all that fantastic result.

waste of money

- JohnC - 10-12-2005

What is bumpsteer?

- .RJ - 10-12-2005

Its when the front tires toe in/out with suspension travel - i.e. the suspension compresses (bump) in a turn and the tires toe out while it happen.

- JustinG - 10-12-2005

thats retarded, cool but retarded, not at all practical. I would much rather have 300+ HP AWD then 400+ RWD. But that LS1 Miata...DAMN

- G.Irish - 10-12-2005

Eh, I'd rather have 400 hp and RWD. AWD is not going to make up for a 100 hp deficit.

That said, I'd rather spend my money upgrading the turbo motor in my Subaru than trying to custom fab some ridiculous LS1 conversion. LS1 in a Miata, 240, RX-7, or E30 I could go for, but not in the Scooby unless I had a damned good reason.

Yes, thank you. I guess sarcastic remarks (like mine above) should be surrounded by the appropriate markup tags. In the thread over on LS1Tech.com, the guy didn't know what bumpsteer was, or why he should be concerned...
