Good to see VW returning one of its cult nameplates. Unfortunately its probably not going to be a lightweight, but nowadays what is?

- ScottyB - 10-11-2005

i wish it had the more bullish hard edges and blunt front end of the old one.

i think the corrado is one of the sexiest VW's of all time....i wish they stuck more to that car's design.

- Mike - 10-11-2005

scotty, it is a scirroco, not corrado. i really like it, but don't see it weighing much south of 3000lbs.

speaking of corrados, i will own one someday.

- Kaan - 10-11-2005

:thumbs down:

i owned the real deal... the concept looks like shit... and its nothing like the old car in any way.

- Mike - 10-11-2005

well no shit... they aren't going to produce something like a car from the mid 80s. it wouldn't sell!

- Feersty - 10-11-2005

Looks like a 6 series.

- Evan - 10-11-2005

we will be lucky if it comes in under 3400 lbs.
basically an AWD jetta, and the jetta is over 3000

should have been RWD

why is it that automakers still dont see the demand for an affordable small RWD coupe?

- JackoliciousLegs - 10-11-2005

corrados are nothing special

- BLAIR - 10-11-2005

worst part it will probably be like 40k

shitrockets have never really done much for me as far as looks.. im all about the corrados too

- Mike - 10-11-2005

you're silly.

thats what i meant. scirroco, corrado, i get confused.

- Evan - 10-11-2005

The original corrado was a busted, broken down pile of shit even by VW standards

technically so were all of the a2 chassis models. It really depended on the car itself though, some people lucked out with the corrado's and still have them in incredible condition, where others just kinda fell apart. The consistency with the a2 models is very bad for build quality.

Because historically, they've sold like shit?

notice they don't sell it any longer? just because it sells well to ricers nowadays doesn't mean it sold well when it was new.

what about the miata? one of the best sellers of all time, even though its a convertible and not a coupe.

the 240 wasn't exactly the most affordable towards the end of its time either i believe.

- Kaan - 10-11-2005

Scirocco's, the A1 and the A2, were light weight cars... fwd... comfortable (for people in the front)... i wouldnt care if they made it rwd... and this model doesnt even share one line like the old ones... get a grip mike! this new car wasnt inspired by the older sciroccos at all... they are just simply using the name plate over agian.
