Thoughts on Ninja 650R - Ross.Church - 09-25-2005 ![]() I was browsing Kawasaki's website the other day and I noticed their new Ninja 650R. I like the look of the bike (the bottom exhaust is cool too, and lowers the bike's center of gravity), and its numbers look good as well. The strange thing is its only around $6k MSRP, which is considerably less than comparably equipped bikes. What gives? Here are the stats: http://www.kawasaki.com/product_print.aspx?product=145 - scottcj - 09-25-2005 No it's all about the new GSX-R 600 - Ginger - 09-25-2005 It's numbers are alright... it's an SV 650 competitor and it looked a whole lot better in concept :-D It's an inline twin, based off the 500R's block... could be a lot of fun, though. I think the SV is still probably going to be a lot more bike for your money. - Ross.Church - 09-25-2005 scottcj Wrote:No it's all about the new GSX-R 600The Suzuki is about 2k more expensive, and at that price range I prefer the CBR600RR....underseat exhaust is sexy. - Evan - 09-25-2005 hot I like it a lot, but I think id still rahter have a SV650S
- Mike - 09-25-2005 better looking than an sv imo, but i'd still rather a used gixxer. - .RJ - 09-25-2005 Damn thats pretty hot.... but I'd rather have a late 90's gixxer too

In regards to the Ninja 650...I think the SV650 will still be a more practical option. There are so many cheap aftermarket goodies for the SV that you almost can't beat it. Besides, Suzuki and Kawasaki had a developmental alliance (sharing technology and data, etc...). Although that recently ended, this bike probably was in development before and benefitted from it...Meaning the Ninja probably has a strong design foundation in the SV. Overall I like the looks of it but think the SV is the more practical of the 2.scottcj Wrote:No it's all about the new GSX-R 600The Suzuki is about 2k more expensive, and at that price range I prefer the CBR600RR....underseat exhaust is sexy. - Ross.Church - 09-26-2005 Anyone have any performance numbers on it? I wonder if it beats the SV in the quarter mile. - .RJ - 09-26-2005 Does it matter? They're both probably low 11-sec bikes in the 1/4....
- Kaan - 09-26-2005 who cares?!?!?! it has a lower front faring... its got to be better looking... SV with a "s" look like shit compaired to the non "s" models. Naked of Fully dressed... doesnt look good in between. |
