Here is a picture of Katrina:

This was taken as it made land and it started the same way that Rita did...tropical storm just south of Miami. Thankfully Rita is not as large as Katrina, but it's directed path is very similar.

These storms are wild this year... There was not much coverage on it but Aphelia(sp?) caused quite a bit of damage on the NC shore... The gulf def. takes the cake though... Its terrible.

I think another big ass hurricane is just what new orleans needs. It's evacuated now, and perhaps if it got effed in the A again, these idiots would shut up about rebuilding, and maybe consider moving the freaking city to higher land

I also agree with you both. Why rebuild in the same spot at the same elevation when it's just going to happen again next year, or the year after, or 10 years or 50 years from now?

My friend and I's drunken scheme for N.O.... stick with me now:
Build a 100 foot concrete wall around the whole city with battlements, barbed wire at the top, armed sniper guards, etc. Then throw all of our worst criminals into the city, give them crude weapons, let them duke it out to the death and turn it into A REALITY SHOW!!
It would be like a real life Running Man lol!

also i read on cnn that the Nuclear Power plant - 2 reactors are shutting down since they are 12 miles off the Texas coast, although they are designed to withstand storm surges from cat 5 hurricanes....it supposed to send a surge 10 miles inland if it keeps the winds up...Confusedhock:

i just simply can't believe that ANOTHER rediculously strong hurricane is hitting the gulf coast in such a short amount of time.... Sad

So they do, but it's severity increased because of the water temps in the Gulf.
